A10 Finals vs URI

Based on the one time we played them at EBA, we may have our hands full with URI. They beat us handily. Their guards were quicker and often got downhill for layups while Brooklyn Grey who had 30 against us, pretty much got her way both down low as well on the boards.

Hopefully, the coaching staff learned from that game and come up with a defensive plan as effective as we were for the last 2 Richmond games.

URI also has a good defense--Walton and Harris were a combined 6-35 and the team only shot 32% and 11% from 3.

Interesting subplot to watch for during the game: Mary Amoateng vs #23 Vanessa Harris for URI - both true freshmen guards who made the all-rookie team.

I learned from Harris’ mom that they played together in high school, have lived together and are best friends.

Mrs. Harris and the other URI fans were as wonderful as all the URI fans I interacted with when going to Kingston a couple years ago. Many stayed for our game to cheer for Hawa Komara (who we basically traded Habib for last year).

This run reminds me a lot of last year and hopefully the finals is the same. Last year we could not handle SJU and their size in the regular season, but VBL figured it out and we dominated them in the final.

We should also have a significant crowd advantage if you all get your butts down to Henrico. That didn’t help Richmond yesterday though :)

Nice background on the game. Will take some sting out of a loss if that should happen.

Charlie Creme has only one team from the A-10 going if Mason wins. If Rhode Island wins, the Rams and Richmond are in. The Quad 4 wins I guess are the difference. Can't go only 2-1 against Q4 and get an at large over a team that went 5-0.
