This will be the second time we will play against St. Mary's in a exhibition game in the Tony Skinn era.

The last time we played them, Mason won 91-62 before the 2024-2025 season started.

When students are out, how are they going to get anyone from the area to go visit a D3 game when there's other things going on at the holidays? EBA is going to sound like a library.

All of our OOC games are home besides High Point? (Not including the MTE games)... so we don't really play any away games till the new year

After taking an hour to start digesting the news there are some pros and cons to the schedule.

Pros:
If you like to see blowout wins at home this should be the year. 8 of the home games should be 20+ point wins. If not, our NET will suffer.

This OOC schedule should assure Tony a 4th straight 20 win campaign barring a total collapse in conference play.

Cons:
This schedule will not draw casual fans. I doubt we'll be knocking down any attendance records in November for UMBC, Coppin St., or Longwood.

A home loss, with the possible exception of USF, will kill us.

I'm still frustrated about the Longwood game being the night before Thanksgiving. Hey guys, I've got a great idea!!!! Let's schedule a home game on one of the biggest holiday travel days!!!!! I haven't missed a home game since 94, I may have to because of Thanksgiving. Stupid is as stupid does IMO.

A D3 opponent right before conference play? Really....

Random thoughts:

I think this schedule reflects our status of being irrelevant on the nation stage over the past decade and a half. We haven't danced since 2011. We're a "tweener" program. We're good enough that top programs fear they might actually lose to us, but beating us isn't going to help their resume. We're not good enough to get feature tournaments or opportunities so we're stuck with what we have. I don't blame the staff in the least, I believe they are doing their best to put together a great schedule. If we can get to the point where we've danced five out of six years that may change.

This is a make or break season me. Ticket price increases, elimination of the Gold Room, higher fees for hospitality, etc., have left me with a sour taste in my mouth. We'll see what happens with attendance, the atmosphere in EBA, and if we can get over the NCAA hurdle.

To the hard core loyalists like myself, I'm looking forward to seeing you at EBA.

As always, time will handle all of this.

Let's just hope the conference is REALLY good this year.

I would be very interested to see a comparison of how our OOC, based on NET rankings, stacks up against the rest of the conference.

Not even vcu, SLU and Dayton - but more so the rest of the conference. If any of the rest of the league has noticeably better OOC's, then the problem is us with our scheduling strategy.

GIVING DAY 2023
Agree that the High Point game will be a great opportunity, but outside of that it's hard to see how this team will be even remotely battle tested going into league play. One true road game, mostly cupcakes at home, horrible MTE. Has the makings of inflated OOC record/stats, only to run into a buzzsaw in league play.

Our chances of an at-large are incredibly narrow anyways, we saw that play out a few seasons ago...would rather maximize opportunities to test the team early and often. Be ready for league play, get hot going into A10 tournament.

I'm not sure we'll really know what this team is all about until February.

GIVING DAY 2023
Good- games vs USF and High Point. Home and home improvement, two top 100 (hopefully) opportunities. 2nd game of 3 vs ODU (even though they suck), so we have an old rival. An exhibition game against Villanova is cool. Maybe if we win, then @2011WinOverVillanova will change his username to 2026WinOverVillanova , lol. :)

Meh- our MTE sucks as usual, I can’t believe UMKC is in it, but I suspect we had to take that to get the chance to play Bradley. Also, the neutral game against Towson is meh, but some behind scene stuff caused it to happen.

Bad- too many buy games, a d3 home game, and the buy games are of poor quality. Woof.

Like @Patriotsince81 said, the staff is most likely doing the best they can and calling all the programs they can think of to setup games and work with the logistics they have available. At least our home and homes got better, but we still are suffering in the neutral game / MTE opportunity department. Until we make the big dance, I suspect our opportunities will continue to not happen.

Overall grade C.
