"WASHINGTON, D.C.– George Mason University women's volleyball sophomore Kiera Hamilton was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday, following a record-setting weekend as the Patriots opened Atlantic 10 play with a pair of victories over Rhode Island.

Hamilton turned in a career weekend, setting career highs in both kills (27) and single-match hitting percentage (.560) across George Mason's two matches. She averaged 6.0 kills, 2.29 digs and 6.57 points per set while helping the Patriots begin conference play 2-0.

The outside hitter opened the weekend with a career-high 27 kills in Friday's 3-1 victory over Rhode Island, adding nine digs and two blocks. Her 27 kills tied for the most in a single match by an A10 player this season.

The sophomore followed with another standout performance Saturday, recording 15 kills while hitting a career-best .560. She also contributed seven digs and two service aces in George Mason's 3-0 sweep of the Rams.

Through the opening weekend of conference play, Hamilton led the A10 in both kills and points, finishing more than a full point per set ahead of the next player in each category. She also leads the conference in kills for the season.

The Patriots' offensive performance on Saturday was equally impressive, as George Mason hit .494 as a team — a new single-match program record in the rally-scoring era.
Hamilton's Player of the Week honor is the latest recognition for the sophomore, who earned A10 Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman.

With the two victories, George Mason improved to 10-4 on the season and 2-0 in Atlantic 10 play. The Patriots continue conference action on Fridey, October 2 at Davidson. First serve is set for 7 p.m."

"WASHINGTON, D.C. – George Mason University women's volleyball middle blocker Mia Hazelett was named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday, following a dominant weekend at Davidson.

Hazelett helped lead the Patriots to a perfect 2-0 weekend, earning a pair of 3-1 victories over the Wildcats as George Mason improved to 4-0 in Atlantic 10 play and 12-4 overall.

The middle blocker was dominant at the net throughout the weekend, averaging 1.86 kills and 2.79 points per set while recording 13 blocks and five service aces across the two matches.

Hazelett opened the weekend with four kills, four blocks and a service ace on Friday. She followed with a career-high nine blocks on Saturday, tying for the third-most blocks in a single match in the nation on Saturday. She also added three kills and four aces in the performance.

The nine-block effort marked a new career high for Hazelett and capped a standout weekend in which she made an impact both offensively and defensively.

The weekly honor marks Hazelett's first Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week award."

Also no at-large buzz.
IMO
overall ranking is too low - although the record to date is fantastic for GMU
need to win the A-10 for the auto entry
or raise the ranking to at least 75 - which will be nearly impossible with league play
