Tre Porter should have stayed in high school. Now everyone knows why he wasn't rushed by other colleges. When u keep doing the same sh... Every game you get the same results. Little talent and no coaching earns you 13 place in the A10, where they belong.

Don't look for brad Edwards to do anything, he was given the plan when he signed. No change. We don't have the funds.

I'm not feeling Edwards is going to make a change either til after the season, if that. They might just let his contract run out.

As far as the same thing every game for the same results, its like Hewitt and Co are on this other plane of existence where you just keep repeating the same things over and over in the hope of it working out eventually, regardless of the win/loss.

It won't happen, Edwards and Cabrera won't let further damage to the program continue if Hewitt is not their guy. If he is their guy, they have to extend, if not, they'll fire. Being a lame duck coach effects recruiting, and Mason (or any school) cannot take any more hits on recruiting or lose more money.

And I'm pretty damn certain Hewitt is not their guy

Do they not do "produce on your last year or you are gone" evaluations in college bball?

Of course they do, but it bites you in the a**. See JMU with Matt Brady and Delaware with Monte Ross (and losing Elijah Cain).

Also what is the purpose of Julian Royal sitting on the bench when we are down a guy up front? If he's dressed, why not get some run? :bricks::bricks:

I'll say it for the 100000th time, we have the money to fire this clown. If we were ready to jump to the A10 a year before we did, AND leave 900k check on the table from the tourney runs, + the incentives tied into his annual contract is more than enough to fire and hire someone with competive pay. Anyone saying otherwise is a poser.

Ok, so your saying Mason will eat his 5th year $700,000, and replace him. I just don't see it. I think they are hoping for three to six more wins so the can justify keeping him.

As far as losing players? Sorry the cuurent
roster is totally deficient in talent, maybe with the exception of thoThompson.

Three to six more wins would take Mason to 9-12 wins for the year. They already have seen interest dwindle in many ways (declined season tickets, TV games), etc. Is that really enough to keep a coach who has had his team declining in wins every year? Keep in mind, that would still most likely be a decline or equal (11 division 1 wins, at Max).

There are several bonuses that have been allocated that Hewitt hasn't obtained. If you add those up you get several hundred thousand dollars off the bat. Plus I'm sure they could pay the buyout over years, and various other ways are possible. If they put those bonuses in his contract, the money had to be available.

I find it hard pressed to believe that a new AD who "wants to win" and "knows when to make a change" (not my words), is going to put up with additional years with someone he didn't hire. Especially one who "expected improvement in a down league" this year. There is too much risk to give a guy a 5th year without having any time beyond that.
