Interesting and well-presented. But how do we miss 106% of our minutes! Did Kanga, Stas, Presley & Booker somehow play a negative number of minutes?
It depends on how you view the minutes, I suppose.

Stas is polarizing (I think he'll be terrific next year), and Presley wasn't exact a net positive.

We don’t. We’re losing about 77%, 29% of which is from guys transferring out with remaining eligibility.

Assuming Long gets a waiver, that 29% will increase because he’s currently listed with the group whose eligibility is expiring.

Presley has potential. We saw that when he led the way with 17 against Cornell and in some of his defensive efforts early in the season. When his minutes got squeezed and we got into conference play, his production definitely fell off. If he sticks around, I think he’ll be an interesting case study in the staff’s ability to develop guards.

Presley has declined. Ever since I saw an opponent rip the ball away from him and go score.....not tough enough.

Thanks for clarifying. I was misreading the 77% as minutes lost to graduating players instead of total minutes lost.

Presley has the size and athleticism. He could be a good slashing wing if he learned to finish his drives. I’m not sure what happened to his defensive effort but he showed a lot of potential earlier.

for me Sivka and Pressley need to move on. Neither one contributed to the team. they played minimal minutes and did not help the team either with points or rebounds. too many good strong players that will be available in the portal.

I don’t agree with pushing anyone out there door. For a lot of reasons but for a few simple ones. One, for the vast majority of these players their education is most important thing they can get. And 2, we have 15 roster spots and you have to have players occupying spots 12-15 anyway. And 3, we are still a developmental league and if you aren’t willing to help players develop their skills year over year what are we even doing?

If Sivka and Presley want to stick around for minimal money I say let them stay. If they get better and become contributors awesome. If they are practice players and there to help instill the culture and teach the offense and defense to the new guys also great.

Our roster as of 4/5/26.

A few random thoughts, feel free to agree or disagree.

Brayden O'Connor - I think we're all comfortable saying he'll start.

Emanuel Kanga - Showed great potential on the glass and defensive end. Project his numbers out if he doubles his minutes. 9.2 ppg & 10.6 reb. He'll need to learn to to play without getting into foul trouble. He knows his limitations offensively and won't try to do too much. Key contributor next year.

Devin Booker - Showed flashes of potential last season. Better on the defensive end than the offensive end last year. I hope he sticks around because I see the potential.

Stas Sivka - Has contributed solidly in some games but has completely disappeared in others. Pure speculation on my part but he seems like a nice young man, maybe too nice. There were several times last year when I just wanted him to attack the rim and slam it home, he didn't. A good/decent team defender who communicates well on the floor. Stas, be nice 22 hours a day, but learn to be an aggressor on the floor. He represents the university well, I would like him to stay. Let's see if he can make the jump to solid and consistent contributor.

Malik Presley - Was a complete mystery to me last year. 22 starts then hardly played at all. It looked to me like he just lost confidence in himself. I don't see him being a difference maker on either end of the floor. I'd rather we bring in a pure shooter in his spot, we need one desperately.

Peyton Miller - Freshman. While his stock has risen, at least he's ranked 3 stars now, I don't expect him to play. When first inked he wasn't even rated on most recruiting sites.

Shane Pendergrass - Freshman. Highly regarded, but bigs generally take longer to adjust to the college game. Slender build. Hoping he can play 10 minutes a night. If he gives us more I'll be delighted.

Isaiah Skinn - I don't see him ever playing.

Ryan Preston-Mendy - I don't see him ever playing.

Fatt Hill - Will he be given another year? Can he stay healthy? He can do one thing well, attack the rim, absolutely no threat from deep and teams know it.

Our current starting line-up is O'Connor, TBD, TBD, TBD, TBD.

Lots of time to go this offseason. The portal officially opens April 7. We have HUGE needs across the board. We need bulk, toughness, defense, 3 point shooting, and a legit point guard. Too much to ask for? LOL.

As is we're a very flawed team. We're young, inexperienced, and thin at every position. Unless we get MAJOR help from the portal we're easily a bottom half of the league team next year, maybe even bottom 4. The staff has their work cut out for them.

Also having some type of continuity, even if they’re guys on the tail end of the rotation, would help when you’re trying to integrate so many new faces. Obviously I would not overpay but if they’re willing to stay for nominal rev share $, they both can be contributing role players next season.

Categorically false. Stas literally won the La Salle game and Presley filled in well while other guys were hurt. Suggesting neither contributed to the team is ridiculous.

Mostly agree. This is basically where we were going into the portal last season — Brayden and four new starters, maaaaybe three if Kanga makes a huge jump over the spring/summer and goes into the fall as the starting 5. He certainly has the ability to do so. Either way we know this staff is gonna bring in good players.

Why do you think he’ll be terrific? Honest question
Stas had the highest +/- on the team for conference games.
He's 6'10 and moves well. He was able to switch on perimeter on defense and guards struggled scoring over him.
He sets solid screens, moves the ball well and can hit 3s on offense.
He played well with Kanga and complimented him well.
Big men take longer to develop. He looked much improved from his freshman year and I would like to see him in the system for 2 more years.

Yes, he needs to get stronger and tougher. Rebounding and post defense are areas where he really needs to improve.

There’s no rule saying we have to pay every player. Totally fine with guys staying on the bench for however much a free education and room and board is worth at Mason now.

I’d usually agree with you but I don’t think continuity is what it once was. Everyone was slobbering over at very mid GW team returning the bulk of their production going into this year and they ended up being insanely mid yet again. If the players aren’t good enough a summer generally won’t change that.

Maybe. But I offer a two-word rebuttal...
"Coach Caputo".
...that is all.
