Team Stats: 24-25 Season
Winthrop averaged 78.1 points per game while giving up 69.8.

The Eagles shot 47.8% from the floor and 35.2% from 3.
Opponents shot 42.6% from the field and 33.7% from 3.

The Eagles shot 70.3% from the free throw line.

They were out rebounded by opponents by 3.1 boards per game and averaged 10.0 turnovers per contest.

Thoughts: They lost their top 4 scorers from last season, all averaging between 15.8 and 12.6 ppg. Their returning players contributed very little last season. Captain Obvious reports that any success the Eagles have this year likely rests with transfers, much like ours. Daylen Berry was sharp and productive in the opener, I hope we shut him down.

This should be a win.

Discuss.

FYI, The wofford win raised Masons kenpom from 91 to 82.

Really excited to see the Patriots get a true PG in Mincy, He was so nice to watch. Great stroke from 3, but more importantly, he dribbled well and was able to feed the ball inside effortlessly. After watching KD slam balls off the big's ankles every game, it was nice to see a guard deliver nice bounce and loop passes to the folks down low.

Kanga looked scary for a freshman, and will make the loss of Billups less painful. If he develops some offense, Tony will have a hard time keeping him here.

Saw lots of good play from the rest of the team too. Makes me feel that the crappy situation delivered to us by the courts and the NCAA won't be terrible as long as we have Tony prowling the portal.

Should be a fun season.

If we had to take one Bob Jones or Toccoa Falls to get a Nebraska or Arkansas, I'd do it. We practically have one of them on our schedule now under the name Catawba. It would be nice to have the off-set of a name team on the schedule.
Agree
no top 100 teams on our home OOC schedule
ODU is the only home OOC opponent in the top half of all Div I rankings - 176 out of 354

I don't disagree with you. However, it should be noted that Catawba is an NCAA D-II school. While Toccoa Falls, Bob Jones, and Clinton College are members of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).

Winthrop has more NCAAT appearances, Conference Tournament championships, and Conference Regular season championships than Mason  :

There are plusses to being a dominant team in non-Major conference with a guaranteed slot in the NCAA Tourney

1) NCAA Tournament Appearance
2) Share of NCAA Tournament money
3) conference tradition of excellence and domination
4) good coaches will get upward mobility for keeping up the winning tradition
