Steve Settles, also from Howard, is also in the portal as a Grad Transfer, and his mother would like him to stay local
We don't need another big IMO. We already have

Henry
Kelly
Pavrette

Plus we have Newton who his 6'9 and probably will play that 3/4 spot. TBD on Ojiako.
I was wondering about possibly pursuing Elijah Hawkins (point guard from Howard/Dematha). Would allow more flexibility and Ronnie to play more at the 2. Not sure there are enough minutes to offer or if he will land at a major program with an NIL deal.
He could be a possibility. Local kid, and if hes anywhere good enough I'm sure Tony and company have taken a look.

Forgot about the "covid" year. Hawkins also would have 3 yrs left. Dinkins was first team All-Met; don't know about Hawkins.
Dinkins has 3 years left because he was a true freshman in 2022-23.

Elijah Hawkins has 2 years left because he was a true freshman in 2021-22.

Neither one of them were in college for the 2020-21 season, so neither one of them qualifies for a covid year.

Dinkins has 3 years of eligibility remaining.

Everyone seems to want to push this kid into the portal for some reason…

With Billups and Maddox on the roster, Polite isn’t starting or probably playing a ton of minutes at the 2.

Seems like a big emphasis on landing a PG in the 24 class (which makes sense, Polite will be a super senior and Dinkins will be a junior then).

With Polite's injury history, I don't think it's unreasonable to want to add a third point guard to this roster this year.

This.

Nothing against Ronny and I sound like a broken record. However, we put a ton on him and he will inevitably have a few games where he won’t be able to play, which is fine.

Having a third guy who can run point or even let Ronny play off the ball some, would do wonders. Have to believe the staff agrees considering we have gone after the guy from Central Michigan and the guy from GT (even though neither will be coming).

This. Polite is legit when healthy, but he hasn’t proven to be able to play a full season yet.

I'm a great believer in stats and fact. Take it for what you will and make your own determination.

Polite has played in 63 out of a possible 85 games which is 74.1%.

20-21 19/22
21-22 14/30
22-23 30/33

Yes, but there is a difference between getting someone like Saquan who can come in and fill in spot minutes at different positions and a transfer who will expect to get starter minutes.

We need a Gabe Norwood/Saquan Singleton type player not a Zaruela type player.
