GIVING DAY 2023
Welcome to the new world order of college basketball. Ya make it work, or it works you.
Just saying, if you don’t expect to make the tournament with the most experienced starting 5 we’ve ever had, not sure why anyone would expect to do it once all those guys are gone.

If anything I see 2023-24 as a bridge year.

I have a feeling but didn't want to jinx it....that we go far this year. KNOCK ON WOOD

First, I agree the bench will be a lot better this year, but "how good is your best five?" is probably the most important question.
Don't overlook the fact that with better depth comes flexibility in match-ups and more strategic options. Oduro is as good a big as we've had, but he had more difficulty against some of the true centers in the league the last couple of years. Now against those big bodies, we can throw Ojiako out there and give him some help. I'm hoping with this roster that coach will have the guys ready to play a number of different styles to exploit match-ups where we can --- whether that be by pressing, slowing it down and feeding the paint, getting into a track meet, or spreading the floor in the half court.

Our offense started off so well last year moving the ball, moving without the ball, and scoring efficiently. But as the competition got tougher and saw more of us on tape, we pretty much settled into one style playing around Oduro. I'm hoping we are able to adjust to and match up better against a wider variety of teams this year.

Albany and Columbus are easily doable too. Denver wouldn't be too bad. Please god not Birmingham.
Used to do work in Albany years ago, been 5-6 times. That's 5-6 times more than needed. Place is a dump, nothing to do.

Columbus has a decent downtown scene but the Ohio State fans who think they are god in everything are nauseating!

Denver is ok but overrated, the homeless have taken over downtown and don't want my clothes smelling like weed every time I enter a public place.

Birmingham - Never been. Hear they have good BBQ and everything is cheap.

The NCAA can send Mason to Afghanistan for a Round of 64 game. F it, at least we’d be in … and @gmubrian could add to his legendary road trip tally.
If somehow Mason makes the east regional I have a feeling I'll be having a lot of folks sleeping on my floor here in Queens.

Unfortunately, the odds of that are very slim.

Guess this can go here... A10 tourney schedule has changed

"The Atlantic 10 Conference men’s basketball tournament will have a different schedule than normal in 2023.

The tournament will start on Tuesday instead of Wednesday with the second round moving from Thursday to Wednesday and the quarterfinals taking place on Thursday instead of Friday. With Loyola joining the conference, there will be three games involving the six bottom seeds in the first round instead of two games involving the bottom four seeds.

The final four teams, all of which receive double byes to the quarterfinals as usual, will have an off day Friday before playing in the semifinals, which will remain on Saturday. The championship game will take place on Selection Sunday as always.

The tweaks to the format were approved by the A-10′s 15 athletic director’s at the league’s fall meetings, which concluded Monday."

This really helps those 5 seeds and 6 seeds who are probably good enough to make a deep run and now won't run out of gas as quickly.

As the conference adds members (and I think it will over time), why not stretch the tournament out over a week? Do something different.

in NYC - with hotels costing $300 a nite, this will be hard on many fans
