When can we buy tickets for the home games?

Individual tickets go on sale in October, mini plans September. Full season ticket plans on sale now.
you can likely get better seats for individual games from some of the Mason Hoops members who are Season Ticket Holders
Yes, correct. I'll be selling the majority of my games. First come first serve.

Overall I give this years schedule a C- with the potential to get to a C+. I totally get Kim's comments about it being tough to schedule-- but at the end of the day it is on him to find a way to make better schedules happen than this. He talked alot last season about scheduling and what he was going to do, and this just ain't it. If it is so hard for good mid-majors to schedule good teams, why aren't we at least scheduling the other good mid-majors? I don't see any games against the upper tier midwest or west coast mid-major teams here.

I don't want to hear about our shitty fanbase not showing up to games, I'm not going to be able to give away my tickets to see known powerhouses Longwood, American, Queens, Hofstra, UMES, and Coppin State. It's a two way street -- you have to schedule schools that people have at least heard of if you want the non-die hard fans to show up. This combined with our conference schedule is probably the worst home slate we have had in the last decade. If we aren't damn near undefeated at home then that's probably not good.

Also bold move (and probably not in a good way) scheduling 3 games in 6 days leading up to Christmas, with Coppin on 1 day rest after the talk about the reason we lost to JMU last year (just scroll to the last page to see the talk on this). I get that it's a bit different situation, but save this post for if we lose to Coppin State because that is scheduled as a classic trap game. They shoot among the highest 3pt attempts per game -- even though they suck that is not a team you want to come out playing subpar defense against because you will get in a hole quickly. 2 road games prior and 2 days before Christmas, not really sure what we were thinking here.

Lol. You talk about how horrible the home schedule is, and then you follow that up with how we need to watch out for Coppin State.. Also, it's 3 games in 7 days. 17---21-23, just like we would play in-conference.

You can be upset by the lack of brand power, but Toledo has won the MAC regular season 2 years in a row and returns a ton, Longwood was a tournament team and will compete for another conference championship, Hofstra will compete for a conference championship.

The MTE is what it is, a huge opportunity. There are upper-tier mid-majors awaiting if we can get past BC.

I indirectly made my feelings on the Tulane game known before it was made public. They return everyone from a team that finished 5th in the AAC last season. It will be a really tough game against a good team.

My $0.02:
We are only getting paid once, at Auburn?
Assuming we are getting something for the game vs Tulane in Chicago
Are we now in a position to not have to worry about taking two buy games to help the budget?

Monday, Nov 7 at Auburn
Since when does college basketball start on a Monday? Why not start on a Tuesday when you aren't competing against the NFL. I realize we are the road team so we dont have much say, but all we ever hear about is how college basketball needs to be smarter and then games to open the season start opposite NFL games.

Fri, Nov 11 vs Longwood
Hopefully a Friday night means we'll have a good student turnout regardless of who we are playing

Sun, Nov 13 vs American
After last year, I thought we'd space out the games more. Could this have been scheduled for Tues, Nov 15th and still have a travel day and practice day before playing BC on the 18th?

Fri, Nov 18 vs BC in USVI
As others have said, this is a really important game because of who it sets us up to play the following two games

Sat, Nov 26 vs Queens
Lots of challenges with this one- Sat after Thanksgiving, Sat college football (Auburn at Alabama, LSU at Texas A&M, Michigan at Ohio St, Notre Dame at USC all scheduled that day), students not on campus, school making jump to DI. But given we are going to play on the 30th and wouldnt have played since Monday, the 21st, had to have to play this Sat.

Wed, Nov 30 vs Hofstra
like the spacing of having played the previous Sat and playing again 3 days later.

Sat, Dec 3 vs Toledo
Can't get Jeremy Irons from Die Hard with a Vengence's "Holy Toledo..." out of my head.
Don't like that its opposite all the conference title games in college football, but playing Sat is better than Sunday, especially if we are playing the following Tues

Tues, Dec 6 vs UMES
Glad this isn't on Monday night

Sat, Dec 17 vs Tulane in Chicago
Will be interesting to see how we do after 11 days off at a neutral site

Wed, Dec 21 at ODU
Should have enough rest after Tulane

Fri, Dec 23 vs Coppin St
When does A10 play start? Are we in for another 7 day break? We've been starting A10 play around Dec 29th or 30th. With Loyola now in the conference, does that mean we'd start A10 play on/around Dec 28th? I'm assuming thats the case, otherwise, it would make no sense to squeeze this one in if we then don't play again until Dec 30th (in the 2019-2020 season our first A10 game was Jan 5, in 2020-2021 it was Dec 30 and last season it was supposed to be Jan 2).

I pretty much agree with tblack33 in terms of the home games

I am not a GMU Alum but a college basketball fan who likes the GMU experience as provided by the band and the relatively easy drive from my house to the afr corner of Fairfax County. And I am hoping that KE can bring GMU basketball back to a consistent post season NCAA/NIT team. I understand that it is a very difficult process and i am still riding with him.

I also share GWU season tix, I am a 10+ year Georgetown partial season ticket holder, and attend at least 5 Howard games. So i balance and deconflict based on those competing schedules

But still i would prefer to see better known, although not necessarily better teams, play.
I see 4 OOC games i plan on attending - with the 11/3o likely being a conflict as South Carolina and the #1 or #2 ranked freshman will be at GWU and last year's GWU season tix cost $9/game.

I may substitute the home opener vs Longwood for the Hofstra game due to the likely weekday time conflict

Reality check: Mason isn’t an attractive opponent anymore. That won’t change just by hiring Kim. Only winning will do that.

2) Virgin Islands
3) Chicago

I find it hard to believe that anyone who grew up in VA or had kids who did their college searches while going to HS in VA haven’t heard of any of the local schools Mason is playing. Maybe Maryland-Eastern Shore, but it being an HBCU that’s a special case (the fact we are playing an HBCU and a Baltimore area College again I doubt is any kind of accident).

I don't really care about the MTE because that was something contracted "before CKE got here" I think and we can't really get out of the contract. Belmont and Drake should both take a step back this year. Best case is us playing BC, Wyoming and Buffalo (I don't even know if that is possible"

Longwood lost two of their top 4 players from last year (last year being their best season since joining D1?) expecting that to happen again is a little weird, considering the last decade they have been a .500 at best school. They will probably revert to the mean and not be a tournament team or close to it next year.

Tulane was 14-15 last year (stop propping them up as anything more than what they are) As we have learned sometimes returning everyone from a shitty team still makes you a shitty team. They lost to a MEAC school and Charleston twice last year OOC. I don't mind a neutral court game but when Umass, Bona and Richmond can get MUCH better opponents you should take a look and see if something is wrong with our game plan. We aren't vcu or Dayton but we should at least be scheduling mid tier in the A10 with neutral games and tournies.

Hofstra is alright. 21-11 last year with most people back. This game is fine to have. They have 3 very good guards and we don't know what will come from PG so I like this game. Competing for a conference championship is reasonable considering how bad the CAA will be next year. Fordham might go undefeated in the CAA.

Toledo is a good program. Kowalcyk is everything my darling @gmujim92 thought DP was. Again this is a really good home game to get.

I am cool with this schedule but stop trying to make a lemon anything more than it is. C+ schedule that could be B- if we get a good shake in the Virgin Islands

We both live 3.5+ hour flights away. Do any of those games make you want to book a plane ticket? I did it last year and would again if something enticed me. This schedule is boring. Tulane in Chicago and @st Louis are the only two I am considering this year outside of maybe HC. Need some cream puffs but this schedule leaves a lot to be desired considering what some of our equals in the A10 are pulling in.

Just trying to make some sort of sense of what the coach has said publicly being one of the biggest mistakes he made last season -- and then looking at him doing literally the exact same thing going into the holiday this year. Both can be true -- the OOC can be shitty and there can be some landmines in there, Coppin State and the way that week is scheduled is absolutely one of them.

Toledo is solid, I'm okay with that. Longwood had it's first winning season since 2008-2009 last year. I had to Google that because it had been so long. Odds are, they will revert back to what they normally are, which is a middle of the road to bad Big South team. "Competing for the conference championship" of the CAA is not what it used to be, and I don't think that necessarily solidifies Hofstra as ending up a top 75 NET team by the end of the season.

If our SOS ends up being even in the top half of the NCAA this year then you can bring this post back up at the end of the season and call me a window licker. But if our SOS ends up either holding us back, or god forbid we lose that Coppin State game on December 23rd I'm going to put your post on a T Shirt and have the womens lacrosse team fling them out into the empty seats when we play American, Longwood, and every CAA school in a 150 mile radius in 23-24.

From where I'm sitting right now this is bad scheduling, with an especially atrocious home slate. I get the home slate doesn't matter to alot of y'all who don't have season tickets -- but for those of us that do it kinda does suck to go watch some of these terrible teams all fall.

Also as a reality check for those who think that it gets easier to schedule when you are better -- try talking to the Bonnies, Dayton, and vcu fans out there. None of the P5s like to schedule them because they are too good on a regular basis. So if we can't schedule them when we are bad, and they can't schedule them when they are good, then which is it?

Lol. You talk about how horrible the home schedule is, and then you follow that up with how we need to watch out for Coppin State..

So you can't say both watch out for the Coppin St. game and still criticize the overall home schedule?

Absolutely you can.

But, is what it is, as long as we don't LOSE to teams like American at home like we did a few years ago I'm fine with the overall schedule.

I would have to imagine there's a huge difference between playing 2 home games in 48 hours and playing 2 road games in 48 hours in terms of prep time and logistics.
The ODU game is away, and it’s actually greater travel time to go Fairfax-Norfolk-Fairfax than it is for College Park-Fairfax-Harrisonburg.

The problem with that part of the schedule last year was that it backed up to the MTE in my opinion. I imagine the staff will be smarter about prepping for Coppin St this year than they were preparing for JMU last year.

And they will have access to their own facilities before Coppin St. And it will be during winter break when no classes are going on.
