He'll have to play around 30 minutes per night to get 150 threes up. Very interesting. His career numbers say he is more effective/productive playing fewer minutes and shooting less.

Freshman year - 11 minutes per game. 25-56 (44.6%) from 3.
Sophomore year - 29 minutes per game. 47-151 (31.1%) from 3.
Junior year - 18.2 minutes per game. 21-57 (36.8%) from 3.

I'm not shocked by this news at all. I've been saying for years that Jamal is one of the top pure shooters on this team, and that will certainly be the case this year with Kolek gone. Consistency has without question been an issue, but I chalk a lot of that up to playing in an offense that didn't get him clean looks and failed to focus on shooting fundamentals (fadeaway 3s are never the solution unless you are Stephen Curry).

As a fellow shooter, Coach English knows what he has in Hartwell and what it will take to help him thrive offensively. Those old enough to remember Brett Blizzard at UNCW will recall how many screens they set to get him open, and once he saw daylight it was all over. Hartwell ain't Blizzard but his consistency should definitely improve in an actual offense.

His defense? Well, that's an entirely different story that Kim will have to address.

He was playing under a different offense. Also, his sophomore numbers are tempered by his month long lung infection that hampered his game.

This ^^^^ our offense the last two years has absolutely been detrimental to Hartwell's positive attributes. Get the ball out of his hands quick, or forever and get him open looks from 3... hopefully we can do that... If he can improve defensively to anything more than not horrible I will be tremendously happy about it

I hope a new offense is the key for Jamal. All I want is for us to win. I just don't see where the minutes come from to get off 150 3's. We'll start to get an answer on Sept. 18.

Sir, I knew Brett Blizzard, Brett Blizzard was a friend of mine and Jamal, sir, is no Brett....I kid, I kid. Nice to see we're trying to play to people's strengths.

I am curious to see how the minutes shake out in the back court. Coaches have been posting all positives about everyone (which is to be expected), but they all can't play meaningful minutes if KE holds to his stated/desired 8 man rotation by the time A10 play starts. Funny how very little mention is made about Frazier III, Henry, and the freshmen. I need hoops!!!!!!

Didn’t one of the assistants post that Frazier has the potential to be the best defender on the team? GiantKillers posting short videos from practice and Otis looks jacked. I think KE has mentioned Gray before.

This is the first time I remember anyone mentioning XJ (which I was wondering about too). looks like they’re doing a slow rollout.
