well with the 95 year old fun Nazi retiring we might just have that happen...

I was just thinking the exact same thing. I remember years ago, he personally told me to sit down because the people behind us couldn't see. Also, remember when I was a student he took away signs and also told some of us in the Patriot Platoon he would remove us if we said "you suck" one more time to opposing players. He said we needed to be positive and no negative comments were allowed.

GIVING DAY 2023
Went to a game one night years ago. Rain. Cold. Wind blowing. Sell out crowd.
Cars were parked along yellow lines. Mason won a nail biter. Joy!! Until the crowd got to their cars. I'll bet dozens of tickets were handed out that night. You should have heard the anger as people yanked the tics from their windshields. Great way to kill a positive vibe and discourage attendance. Keystone Cops, indeed!
I'm assuming, Jesse, that means you are giving a thumbs down to the Mason cops.
And I agree.

Send the Aussie bros to the first sorority meetings of the year. Engage with the international student community, we have two international players on the roster! Find a way to tap into those guys and bring the international kids into the college basketball atmosphere. Would love to see some pregame partnerships with local restaurants with happy hour deals before games for people with tickets to the game that evening.

People in nova want to be relevant in the national spot light. It's backwards....you are top 20, they will come. You aren't, they wont...sans the die hards.

I’m sure this is exactly what KE had in mind to make the environment more exciting and loud. Clueless.
People like her have no idea how the economics of college basketball work. I haven’t seen the numbers so I can’t say for sure, but I’d imagine that 90% of our basketball donations come from 10% or less of our donors. Do whatever the hell we can to keep those people happy for now because if they stop giving we are gonna hurt. I hope that team mom shit gets shut down now with a fury, these are grown a** men for the most part.

"Too many people in the gold room" is a terrible way to frame the complaint. How about "not enough space in the gold room so expand the gold room"? Or "create a second gold room"?

I guess some people just want to feel special and exclusive.

yeah I mean plenty of us have said “ we need more hospitality space”. Saying too many people go there is odd.

Also I’m not sure what she means about mid donors not being appreciated. Last I checked many of us who donate in the 500-2k bucket probably are very appreciated and engage the most. I threw random numbers out but I’m sure folks get what I’m going for here.

She is clueless. It starts by getting out and getting the student body involved first. Get campaigns, promotions, boots on the ground to engage with students as soon as they get on campus and laying the foundation down that way. Get them involved from Day 1 and hype up our team and sport - the more we can get the students involved the more they become involved and will hopefully last and engage throughout their student experience which translates in to them being alumni and donors.

The average student wants to be catered to.... give them complimentary pizza coupons to Papa Johns or a Burger and Soda every game to get them through the door. Then deliver an amazing gameday experience with their friends rooting for their team and learning about our history and program and build from there. Winning helps of course but if they can get a free meal and entertainment for a Tuesday night then it beats hanging out in their dorm room.

Just like big tobacco.... the quicker and earlier you get a person hooked then you have a lifelong customer.

The sports department needs to take a look at the old fraternity and sorority lists from the 1970s-on and reach out to these people since majority of fraternities and sororities were big time supporters of Mason athletics and do what is possible to get these people re-engaged. Every home game should be a reunion for a Alpha Omicron Pi night, same with fraternities. Then go after donor lists from the past 30 years and see who has not donated to the school or sports in a long time and see how they can get these people re-engaged. Some times it just takes a personal invitation and update on all current things going on at Mason and Mason sports to ask for a $20 donation.

Or her other comment about wanting the players to make her feel appreciated like OTis did. This woman makes me sick
"How do we build a winning culture and exciting game day experience you ask? Why it's as simple as more players from the team coming over to my house for Sunday dinner while I mutter 'it puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again' at them over and over"
