OK, cool. There's 353 Div. 1 basketball programs. How many went from 6th or worse to an NCAA tournament berth in 2 years with a rookie head coach and roster that almost completely turned over?

And let's be honest, 6th was a pretty fake finish considering nearly all the wins came against bottom 4 programs and we got swept by the teams directly beneath us.

Here's this years tournament teams though. Show me the ones coached by second and third year rookie coaches that turned about their programs.

1. Gonzaga18. Villanova35. Wisconsin52. North Texas

I simply do not understand your need to debate everything. So again, I choose to be optimistic. I try to see the good in things and the positive possibilities. You are free to look at things from a different point of view. I'm just not going to go back and forth over it. I'm done. Moving on.....

Where is the quantification of improved shooting with Schwartz, improved defense by Gaines, a scorer in Cooper? Add in all 3 danced last year. I would bet any amount this current roster wipes the floor with last year's roster of DP and gang. And if DP finished 6th last season, we are definitely finishing 3 or 4 and a slam dunk for atleast an NIT bid.

If you just didn’t add the last sentence I completely agree with you… but unfortunately that is extremely unrealistic. There are three teams that we shouldn’t be close to in regards to being good next year: Bona, Richmond and Dayton. Then you have St. Louis, st joes, vcu Davidson, Mason all about the same in the middle of the pack. Rhode Island and Umass got some really stellar newbies. I’m just not seeing this definitely finishing top 4 thing. We are most certainly not finishing top 3 id bet any amount of money you want on that.
As someone said, I think some of you forget these other A10 teams are also recruiting well right now. We finally got an invitation to the party, but let’s not act like we are the only ones attending.
Staying optimistic and being a realist need to be intertwined I think. Quentin is right with 99% of what he’s saying, he’s just also being an a hole about it seemingly for no reason.

If we had retained Joe and Dan Miller my expectations would be pretty high. Since no my expectations are only fairly high for next year.

Better see NIT in first three years and NCAA first four minimum or pulling the 180 on Paulsen probably wasn't even worth it.

Every one else's opinion sucks

Honestly Sleeper I think it’s Bona and everyone else is fighting for the other 3 top-4 spots next season.

Richmond has a old team but their window may have already closed and Dayton is going to be crazy talented but equally inexperienced. Will both of them be miles ahead of our upgraded roster? I don’t know about that.

I do generally agree it will be tough to finish top-4 but certainly not impossible given what other teams lost (vcu, for instance, lost its starting backcourt — even with their depth that’s hard to replace).

From you, I'll take that as a compliment.

And yeah, maybe a bit more aggressive than needed, but I get soooo f'n tired of navel gazers that think everything possibly positive will happen and everything possibly negative won't. Here's a consideration that nobody wants to say, but what if CKE is a $hitty head coach? Or just isn't ready yet? Only six years ago he was playing ball in Europe still. I don't think that's going to happen, but wouldn't be the first time a hotshot young assistant fell short. Believe it or not, Dave Henderson was once considered an up-and-comer. Scott Drew's Big 12 record at Baylor was 12-52 his first four seasons and he's a national championship winning coach.

And besides, anyone that puts Tim Tebow or any other Gator in their avatar deserves what they get. F 'em.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It also really depends on how good of an in-game coach English is, too, because McCall, Ford and Cox might be good recruiters but they are not great in-game coaches (Cox and McCall especially are suspect).

If we can match-up athletically with the top of the conference and English turns out to be a good strategist, we should be right up there.

Let's get into that aspect of KE. What, if any strategy or style of play is he going to coach? Probably no sample size or a way to deduce this.

The only think I will guarantee is that we will play hard and focus on sound fundamentals. Given everything Kim has said, I don't think anything less than that will not be permitted or tolerated. Granted, playing hard and fundamentally sound does not always equate to playing well, but it's a hell of a place to start.

It's hard without having watched a game, but I believe The Virus ran a similar offense, 5 out, or 4 out 1 in. Is there too much freedom in these styles? Biggest criticism of The Virus was how poor of an in game coach he was bc he just expected the players to figure it out as the game went on while he used all his timeouts in first 8 mins of the game. I did hear KE mention this thing called "shared cognition", where every player know what to do when any one of them makes a certain move with ball.

:ROFLMAO: You’re out of legit points of view and the numbers you’re putting out here aren’t proving anything, so naturally it’s now my avatar that’s the issue. Hilarious.

Dave Henderson was a heck of a baseball player too! :giggle:
Just thought I'd chime in. Kinda hated missing out on all the fun.

team went bowling tonight per Twitter. Much better outings that forced hangouts with swimom at the local private pool
Not gonna lie it looked pretty fun. Glad to see them doing stuff like that to bring everyone together on the off season with all the changes going on. Can only help em.
