It seems to me it will likely take more than two wins to make it out of the PIG? We have to leap over two other programs to be out of the PIG. Right now, that would be Dayton and Fordham who are both 1 game ahead of us. That means one of our 2 wins would have to be against Dayton and both Dayton and Fordham would have to lose the rest of their games. Since they don't play each other, I guess it is mathematically possible, but hard to imagine 3 teams with 1 or 2 wins. I think it will take at least 3 wins to make it out of the PIG
You and your freakin math...:crazytongue:

For those that have Fox College Sports Atlantic (it is channel 720 on Comcast Alexandria), the Richmond at St. Louis game is on there tonight starting at 8.

Didn't you just post the following on another thread?

JJ is Hewitt's guy all the way for all you Hewitt Haters out there. Right now, Hewitt guys over L's. The future isn't as bleak as it may seem.

If you want to read St. Louis' message board, see
http://www.billikens.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=25122.

Thanks for the link, Pablo. Naturally, those on the St. Louis boards are understandably confident (want to beat the 14-15 pt spread) but not much bulletin board material here. Dr Gunnie provides them with a reasonable summary of our team. Some comments from their posters on how they seem to have problems with athletic forwards (i.e. Jenkins).

They have tied their best start in their history at 19-2. Clearly they are a very strong defensive-minded team. Here' hoping we can stay in the game longer than Richmond did (UR shot only 23% in the first half). We're now 14.2 underdogs (rpiforecast).

St. Louis is a shithole....And I hate the Cardinals and their "knowledgeable" baseball fans. They're the NL equivalent of Yankee fans except Yankee fans admit they're obnoxious. So at least we live in a nice place and aren't aholes except Tom (my Lt. Weinberg salute)...As for the game, them a lot us not as much.

My guess is we'll make their fanbase sweat for the first 15 minutes of the game -- are these guys going to finally turn it around? Before going on a 10 minute span to straddle both halves where St. Louis goes on something like a 25-2 run and takes over the game.

I think it's hilarious you paint expectations for a game in which we are 15-point underdogs on the road and then act like it will be a disappointment that we don't meet those false expectations.

We would need to play our best game of the year AND catch them on an off day for this game to be close. I'll be tuning in with the slim chance those stars align. And a quick tip of the proverbial cap to super fan Dr. Gunnie, who will probably have to brave the snow and ice to drive from Illinois to St. Louis Saturday to watch his beloved Patriots in a down year.

We struggle to score for long stretches against mediocre defensive teams. I'll be absolutely shocked if we even get to 50 against SLU.

My expectations for this game are the same as every game. For the first 15 minutes, we will play St. Louis even or might even appear to be outplaying them and then everything will fall apart.

Very few teams have just blown us out of the water from start to finish, and that includes Iowa State. I don't expect St. Louis to either.

I say we beat the spread and lose by about 9 or 10.

It might be a game time decision for us. Calling for some thick ice tonight into tomorrow - not the type of driving conditions you want to deal with for two hours. We are right on the line, and St Louis is south west of us which is supposed to get more rain than ice. Figures the one time a year that I have the chance to see us play we would get a ice storm. Hoping the storm goes a little north and we can still make the trip. If we do go, we are guaranteed to lose. If we can't go, I'm sure we will pull of a last second win that people will talk about for ages.

Any chance you can leave today after you and the kids get out of school to get ahead of the weather? I know that means you'd have to get a hotel tonight and probably tomorrow night, but at least you'd make the game.

The weather is going to be worse tonight than it will be tomorrow. The longer we can hold off - the better.

Of course, we are going back to St Louis next weekend to take the kids to see Disney Jr Live - I bet the weather will be perfect for that. :(

Disney Jr Live, produced by the same company that produces Disney On Ice and Ringling Bros. Bring lots of $$ for those $20 bags of popcorn......
