That would be solid idea - I also like boxes or suites so I can be as loud and offensive as I want to be without catching shot.

I would like to do something like K-State had - they had lodge seating at the top. It wasn’t like luxury boxes, but it was two rows of almost like bar seating with counter tops and movable chairs where you can have food/drinks. Much easier and cheeper than the enclosed box seating, but still something that would be an attractive option and you would only need to take out the top 4 or 5 rows to do.

vcu has that, but the way EBA is designed, I am not sure if that is possible. I guess they could remove the middle rows between some of the portals and use your suggestion.

Hard to justify downsizing when the enrollment just keeps going up. I was in there for winter graduation and the place was absolutely packed. I’d way rather have 2000 seats covered up until we can start putting more people in there than have an arena that limits revenue.

I’m more upset by the fact that someone in 115 yelled at me to sit down with under a minute to go last night.

I was actually watching the game with the in-laws in town and my mother-in-law said “you can sit on the couch if you want and my wife said “oh, he doesn’t sit during basketball games.” So not even when I’m in my house.

Same thing happened to us in 101. This is two games in a row now where we’ve come down to crunch time and our fans just sit there. I will say it was at least loud toward the end (did they take out the sound meters?). You don’t see this at real basketball schools, even if they suck. It driving me nuts and is super frustrating if we think this program is going to go to another level.

I can’t imagine what our players think when they try rile up the crowd and they are told, down in front?

The whole reason why college basketball is fun is because of the game atmosphere. An engaged crowd + green machine + winning may make a world of difference to a recruit on the fence or your casual fan thinking about what to do on a Saturday night.

Maybe we need to have the video board also tells people to stand at crucial moments in addition to get loud, since no one can seem to figure it out.

I've given up hope that we will ever have great crowds. Our best year was an average of 6,800 but those days are long gone. We have reduced a 10,000 seat arena to 7,000 by covering up corner sections and we still can't/won't/don't come close to a full house. Too many other things to do in the area I guess. It's still a mystery me why people pay for season tickets and the Patriot Club donation that goes with it and then don't attend the games. I will no doubt be cringing when vcu comes to town because I know the people around me will sell their tickets and I'll be surrounded by toothless, unwashed McDonald's employees with an art degree.
We’ve won 1 or 2 meaningful games in the last decade, with mostly .500 or below teams in between. We’ll get better crowds when we start winning- and starting off 5-1 doesn’t count.

Only ways to get huge crowds is to get and beat big time programs at EBA.

The other way is to join the ACC. Ha!

Other than the weather sucking, what else was going on last night? Wizards and Caps had the night off, no NFL playoffs, MD had played the night prior, GTown didn't play this weekend, and UVA was at Duke. The ticket prices have gone up significantly though, which may be a turn off.

The season ticket holders I know show up to 95% of the games.

This topic is such a dead horse but I’ll bite.

Mason was playing Fordham. Nobody gives a crap about them and they aren’t good. In addition, fairfax is just outside of the nations capital. There’s a lot to do on any given day or night other than a George Mason men’s basketball game. Simple as that. As the guy who runs a meetup I go to says, you have options in a major city of what to do or see.

If the team continues to win and is in top 4 consideration, the crowds will get better in February. Also expect the rivalry games to be that much more fun. I had a lot of fun at the JMU game and expect the homecoming game to be loud too. It sucks that there’s people who don’t want to cheer, but the best bet is to try and ignore them and keep cheering.

ahhh the old grumps that sit near @Patriotsince81 got to you last night... they sit below us so we don't have much problems with them... but they suck

I dunno, I thought we had a fairly large crowd despite the fact that classes were not yet in session. It got pretty loud in there the last two minutes and for Otis's gane winner.

When it's time to stand to urge on the team, I try like hell to get people in my section to stand. They just won't get up! It's like they forget that they have two legs!!

I prefer hot chocolate. Or a cattle prod. You need to PUNISH them for sitting. To each his own! ;)

Im liking what you are putting down. Yes, yes, more pain and potential to scald/scar genitalia. The force is strong with you sir.

True fact.

It's unfortunate, but there are so many teams in the A10 that there is just no buzz surrounding most of them. I miss the CAA where all the games had an edge.
