What should we complain about next?

They had to move the band to the other side of the basket because of A10 rules, not sure if there are rules for putting the students so close to the end of the bench.
Yea, I knew about why the band had to move over one section but i gotta think student sections have no restrictions. Look at GW, they have students basicly 3 feet from the end of the visiting team bench.

Yeah but theirs are weird and tiny, like the old JMU ones. At the same time we should focus on getting more students to come to games, not just moving them around. Maybe I'm biased because I sit there...

I'd like to see evidence of that. I assume the argument for that change is based on distracting visitors on their foul shots in the second half. Frankly I think it's a myth created by fans to think that they have influence in the outcome. My sense is that a loud and boisterous home crowd is influential in getting players pumped up, but that any arm-waving, speedo-wearing during opponent foul shots has no effect. My prediction is that visitor foul-shooting in the first half is significantly correlated with their % in the second half.
I can tell you that having the main student section 96 feet BEHIND the foul shooter certainly doesn't help our chances....

So is there data on that? All one would need to do is go through our home games in a given year and tally the visitors' FT % for each half and report the averages. Maybe throw out the results during winter break when essentially students don't show up.

In that the band does show up for every home game and does try to distract the free throw shooter, if there is a distraction effect maybe it would show up in those Winter Break games.

very true, GW is a tiny place and not many places to put their students. Mason does need to do things to get more students to the Patriot Center more often. This season was really sad, like 4 games the student section was full, Cornell, Richmond, vcu and Davidson. We need the Patriot center to be a hard place to play, a loud place to play. I believe one day it will be again.

Starts with winning.

Although, the AD has to make a good hire and pimp the hell out of the program next year. I really don't want us to suffer through two to three years of a "wait and see" mentality from our students, fans and community.

We don't see Mrs. GMUTom as much as we used to. She added a lot to the game time experience. For me anyways.........

1. Have a green bowl with chips/pretzel on every table in the Gold Room. Why do they only have them on half the tables? Does a donor need to spring $40 on this to make it happen.
2. Next time we have guns at the pregame, students can draw their weapons in response. It definitely would have made Kent State more interesting.
3. Last year it took 6 beers to enjoy Mason games or at least not to care so much. Now, I won't have to drink as much which sucks.
