I watched the movie Uncut Gems last night. Adam Sandler is surprisingly good in this dramatic role (as is Kevin Garnett), but damn if his character isn't one of the most pathetic and irredeemable people in all of NYC. I felt emotionally spent after watching it, so keep that in mind if you are on the fence.

Another movie similar in the emotional rollercoaster you will is experience is Parasite. It takes a few minutes to get used to the subtitles — especially if you are used to multitasking while watching movies or shows at home — but it is really engrossing in how it covers social classes both as a Shakespearean tragedy and a horror film. I assure you it is not what you are expecting, especially the ending.

Some were bothered by Parasite winning Best Picture at the Academy Awards, but I would have been fine with 1917, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood or Parasite winning. All three were great movies with awesome performances.

This might be a real niche thing for me because I read the books as part an extra-curricular reading thingy I used to do when I was a middle school teacher, but I'm enjoying the "His Dark Materials" series on HBO.

I just spent 2 hours of my unexpected early spring break arguing with other travel baseball coaches if we should pull out of a tournament, and suspend practices, over the next two weeks. Youth sports people can be really interesting.

Good shout about uncut gems. It was good but tense and not something I think I’d rewatch. That stripper movie Hustlers with Jennifer Lopez was very good. I think it was a bit overlooked.

I loved the books... I have re-read them numerous times... always seem to find something new or that I didn't remember in the books. Have just started watching Episode 2 of it on HBO... looks pretty good so far

Couldn't agree more. I would recommend to everybody who watches this amazing movie to check out video below on how it was made. The sets and filming were all done on location, and much of it was shot at ground level in long, continuous shots. Right when I walked out of the theater I knew there was no doubt it would win the Academy Award for Best Cinematography (which it did). This really is filmmaking at its best.

Saving Private Ryan > Dunkirk > 1917

1917 was well shot, just little story and the walking at times can lag. Dunkirk is really really good, non traditional storytelling and it's just beautiful. Christopher Nolan shot it like a modern day Kubrick war film.
