Unsure what the Big East thinks of this - as this seems to be a statement/preference of the Legislators

An additional Big East team may blow up their home and away conference scheduling model

With no football, the value is all in basketball

How large is the St. Louis media market?
Can St. Louis sustain their basketball excellence over the next 3-5 years?
Currently how competitive are they with the current big East Teams?

Stretches the Big East footprint westward.
Easier travel for Creighton, Marquette, Butler.

Might be a way to keep Schertz. Move up to a P5 multibid conference. And SLU's profile fits in well with most of the Big East: private/Catholic, urban, no football.

That would give them 12 schools.

Always thought St. Louis just doesn't fit the A10 as an ideal school. They seem like a better fit in Big East or another conference.

Not sure why. Geographically the Big East and A10 are basically the same. School expenditure wise they are in alignment with most of the top half of the league.

It’s been talked about for years. Dayton and SLU want to be in the Big East but the Big East doesn’t want them or expansion.

Butler, Xavier, and Creighton haven’t sustained the kind of success the Big East would have wanted Im sure. Dayton and SLU are closer to those three than they are to UConn

The Big East presidents love the round-robin schedule and would only get rid of it by adding an A-10 school in an absolute “break glass in case of emergency” scenario. Don’t think they’re there yet.

Now do you know why I want us to try to explore the arrangement model Wichita State has where they can be a hoops and other sports but not football member in a football league?

No. Because we are in a top 7 conference now and there is zero incentive for a P4 conference to bring us in at this point (unless you think the reconstituted PAC12 would want us as a basketball only member and don’t mind flying cross country for every away game).
