GIVING DAY 2023
Posted this on Twitter as well, but I’m firmly in camp start Okojie now. What he brings outweighs the freshman mistakes he makes.

Do you want to see him starting? If so, when? What position do you want him playing, and who slides to 6th man?
Yep I’m down for this. Move Billups to first guy off bench and slide Ronny to the 2.

this would be the only scenario I see unfolding where Okojie breaks the starting lineup unless there is a night where Maddox or Polite are "sick" for a spot start. It might be worth exploring for the next few home games....nothing against Billups, he is a good rotational player, just not much of a scorer.

Billups is the best defender on the team and this is a defense-first staff. If Okojie is taking anyone’s spot, it’s Ronny’s.
I get that too- but no reason why they also can't use him as a 6th man too. Billups also only played 16 minutes and 20 minutes in the MTE, so perhaps that is more 6th man minutes too.

Also, Okojie and Ronny appear to be splitting minutes 50/50 at point so perhaps you are right that Ronny becomes 6th man.

This is a good problem to have and honestly doesn't really matter one way or another. As long as we don't have to run Ronny 35 minutes a game at point, I'm fine with however this shakes out.

Gabe Norwood in 2006, Ike Tate in 2011?

But honestly, if Ronny continues to struggle to score it doesn’t make sense to take your best defender off the floor to start the game. Both of them are probably going to continue to play about 23-27 mpg anyway.

Ronny better tighten up or BO is going to start really eating in to his minutes. BO seems like an absolute steal for this level and I cant wait to watch him develop over the next few years! Add in JB next year and the PG position is in great hand for years to come. Took CTS all of one off season to fix the PG situation that KE could never fix.
Took me a minute but I thought we were talking about body odor at first lol

What is the status for Devin Dinkins? Is he still dealing with a back injury?

Or perhaps this is a ominous sign that he has been unfortunately recruited over and we will be seeing him in the transfer portal at the end of the season.

Justin Begg like Devin Dinkins is very generously listed at 5'10/5'11 on recruiting websites. Real actual height probably 5'9/5'8.

What sets Justin Begg apart from the point guards we currently have?

Dude is a baller. Of all the possible recruits I watched in the shoe circuits this summer, he stood out the most. Intelligent. Quick. Has range. Just gets to the right spots and makes the right plays.

At 5-9 not so easy with a 6-4 defender.
I’m unbothered by his height. I watched a ton of his EYBL games, including 2 in person. I was in Atlanta watching his team play because we were initially after some of his teammates and very early on I was like, “who is this guy?”. He announced his offer from us after the game.

Tony and Mike were sitting courtside.

Hey it wasn’t me who offered him. Mike already knew Justin, but Tony saw him for the first time in April, traveled the country for a couple of months and never really went after another PG. The other assistants watched him multiple times as well. He had his best game against Elliot Cadeau, who is currently the starting PG for UNC. 17pts, 8asts & 7rebs.

Justin and Baraka will be a formidable duo.

Undersized PGs in the A10 tend to work, I’m not that bothered by his height because he’s still quick and looks like he has a decent shot. Will probably have an adjustment to being guarded by bigger/more athletic guards his freshman year while he learns to quicken his release and gets past some things you can get away with in high school ball that won’t work in college at his height, but expect he’ll be just fine by his sophomore season.
