Mason improved to 2-1 on Monday with an 88-40 win over Florida A&M. Five Patriots are averaging at least 8 points per game, led by Zahirah Walton's 22.3 points, 9 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game. Freshman center Sara Blair broke out Monday with 13 rebounds in 15 minutes. As a team, they are shooting 39.8% from 3 on an average of 31 attempts per game.

Georgetown beat Stonehill 90-45 on November 6th, then lost at #10 Maryland 85-66 on Sunday. The Terps used a 34-point fourth quarter to erase a 4-point deficit. The Hoyas haven't faced a team on Mason's level yet this season, so it's hard to draw conclusions from their results thus far.

Mason beat Georgetown on December 9th in DC last season, 63-55.

Monday was my first chance to watch true freshman Littlejohn and Amoateng, I was really impressed with both of them, particularly Amoateng who was running point a majority of the time she was in. Composure, skill and physicality were all impressive and they both look like future starters.

Blair is a woman amongst girls, and may have the highest upside of any true freshman in recent years.

I had seen Amoateng and Littlejohn on espn+ streamed games and in-person against Fla A&M. I agree--both show considerable promise--Amoateng especially. I think she'll develop into a starter role sometime this year.

Blair is a project but at 6' 3" could develop into a real force. 13 rebounds in something like 16 minutes! Not light on her feet nor strong offensively. Will take much more time to get into the regular rotation.

Down 16-8 in Q2
Georgetown women seem to be taller at each position and getting rebounds that translates to 2nd and 3rd chances
GMU with a lot of missed 3s

A brutal first 3 quarters offensively. Shot less than 25% for that part of the game...and many of the misses were by a LOT. Flipped the switch in the 4th quarter and effectively pressed the Hoyas. Lots of points off of turnovers. Walton and Kennedy woke up just in time.

Actually the Hoyas turned the ball over quite a bit throughout--I think the turnover margin at the half was 11-4. It was the main reason Gtown wasn't up by 20, that and the fact that they were only making about a third of their shots.

Great rally to tie it and take command in OT! Wound up high-fiving some dad half my age across the aisle several times in the last quarter and overtime!

A couple of student activity organizations sponsored a 4-5 suggestions mentioned on the boards:
Grad student activity giving out pizza and soft drinks to maybe a dozen families in space where the green room normally occupies; several raffles--free campus parking for the semester, tix to Caps game, etc. with winners announced well into the second half. That said, I'd guess no more than 100 students were in th student section. We'll see if that builds crowds--free stuff, food, and an exciting OT win over a "name" program--can't get much better than that if you got past the first 3 quarters!

Za Walton and MJ Johnson with 3 fouls each so may get even uglier.
This absolutely terrified me when it happened, but neither one of them picked up another foul until MJ with about 10 seconds left in OT (and that one may have been on purpose, since the team had fouls to give)

I don't believe MJ came off the floor in the 3rd and 4th quarters, and Za only got one quick break near the end of the third quarter.

Impressive stuff to do that and not foul.

There were significantly more students present, they were just sprinkled all over the arena since no one was forcing them to sit in the designated student section (with a total attendance around 1500, it really didn't matter where they sat)

I think your assessment is likely correct. Many of the crowd shots on the big screen showed at least student-aged people in places other than the student section.
