Brian - maybe you can translate the post because I cannot understand that he is afraid of receiving a blowout from us - or that he hopes their team clicks and blows us out. The sentence structure and grammar is difficult to decipher.
They're literally making poop jokes on their thread, best not to try to get too far inside their minds.

Anyone else planning on coming down for the game? I’d love to see some more green in the crowd. The local Mason Alumni group is having a get together beforehand in Scott’s Addition starting at 2. Lots of breweries within walking distance to visit.

Yes. What brewery is the Mason gathering? This info needs to get out to our fanbase ASAP.

By the way, on AJ, they asked about him in the presser after GW and it seems like Paulsen has plans to utilize him against vcu. I'm curious to see what that means and how many blocks he's going to get considering vcu can't shoot.

Starts at Isley Brewery at 2. There’s a bunch of breweries and a couple cideries in that area to walk to for a visit. Then at 5:30 people will be hanging out at Isley either staying for a watch party or heading to the game. If you plan on drinking a lot the Stu isn’t really walkable but would be a very short drive or Uber ride.

When I hear the letters V, C and U used in sequence, my first impression is “deep thinkers.”

I think those are the younger fans. The last time they were at Mason I sat next to some vcu fans (alumnae) and they were great. A lot of good basketball talk and everyone was cordial and having fun.

If you read some of the posts - many are in agreement it will be a defense led game - whoever's offense i less cold will win.

Kind of a bizarre conference game in that we both have a week to think about it and prepare. It's unfortunate because now they are getting the chance to fine tune their zone defense all week. I wouldn't be surprised if we win this game and then lose the game at home haha

Funny they still have their panties in a bunch about that senior night nonsense in 2012. The word "butthurt" comes to mind. I've said it to a few people outside of these boards, but isn't it amazing how almost every team we've played in conference has a bad shooting night and just doesn't play up to par offensively. We truly have gotten lucky a lot and it has nothing to do with defensive adjustments that Paulsen has made. I mean, winning at Dayton and URI is really not that difficult. We're just a paper tiger. Oh well, I just I'll just hope they have an off shooting night....

They do seem to fixate on a bunch of old things. One of their posters made an odd comment about us pretending we have a rivalry with them by reading posts on this board.

Yet none of us have even talked about that - it’s all been pretty much looking at strength and weaknesses and a desire to win to keep position in conference. There has been no emotional rivalry talk here. It seems that they are projecting a bit.

Lawdog.
I think our defense has a lot to do with teams shooting %. When we take away the drives, imo teams start thinking 'dang I gotta make this'. Combine our rebounding position and attempts are one and done. Then we make them pay with strong drives, and\or post touches and kick out 3's. It's a little mental warfare in that DP's teams always fight with a silent confidence that keeps opposing teams on the ropes so to speak. It's luck too and we will see how much luck it is as we start playing the upper half of the conf.

vcu's new Center for the Arts! Architects worked for hours to recreate the "Urban Decay" theme of the rest of the campus. vcu also released the new Mission Statement for 2019: Please remeber the at vcu "Coloring" is hour middel name.

I am not convinced to this day that vcu staff wasn't involved somehow in hijacking their senior night. Something didn't add up then, and doesn't add up now.

In the eyes of everyone here - who are the two biggest threats on vcu’s team that we will have to address in our game plan?

Second - given their relatively low three point shooting percentage - do we design a defensive scheme that will push them to rely on outside shots ?

Imagining that we will have to fight through vcu's defense which means the game could get to a really fast pace of play. I can see the constant rotation of AJ with Reuter and Calixte to make sure everyone stays fresh. Silva is their only banger in the paint, I'm imaging they want to run him crazy like they did with holloway, then when he out of the game, we can plug in AJ as our 5 and focus on jenkins and vann. I'm imaging Greene and Kier will be on them. Honestly, our defense matches up great against vcu, my only concern is limiting TO's, crowd and emotions. There is going to be a few calls that don't go our way.

their best player is PG Marcus Evans... so I assume Greene or kier takes them. Jenkins is a streaky scorer... Otis will have to step it up on either Jenkins or Vann.

Mobley has regressed a ton and Miller should be able to do a great job on him

Santos-Silva has gone from a 55 on 2k to an 85 over one off season. He really is a bull down low. Reuter and Greg will have to play physical with him.. Also a decent free throw shooter
