My prediction: All of a sudden this becomes a huge game. Make or break? Maybe not but it’s getting close. My heart says we pull out the win but my head says we bite the bullet and lose again. This sucks. Bonnies 72 - GMU 65.

That vcu L seems to have broken them a bit. Hopefully the warm confines of the patriot center will spur them on to a W. Got to keep eyes on a double bye prize .
Yes! Patriot Center!

Bonaventure was expected to be towards the top of the league in the preseason and definitely won the "transfer portal" with guys like Mika Adams Woods.

They shoot a ton of 3s which is how they beat vcu in Richmond. Mason will need to cover their three point attempts well or it will be a long afternoon.

In addition, Chad Venning is a load in the post for them. Big body who can really get to the rim. I suspect we'll try to deny the ball to him as much as possible.

Schmidt is considered by many to be one of the top coaches in the league. His teams always run a ton of offensive sets that are complex and he always gets the most out of his talent. Hopefully having Steve Curran on our side will help us a lot.

In addition, having the 5 days off after a grind of 3 games in a week hopefully will really help our guys out. Being at home will also help hopefully. Mason needs a win and needs to continue to defend the home floor at a high clip.

This is a must-win game, and I never like facing Mark Schmidt in a must-win game. His teams always seem to run more sets than anyone else in our league. Having Curran and having 5 days to prep will help, but I'm not sure how much.

We've had one coach that really mattered. Hoping Tony will end up being the second. Barnes was good but only stuck around one year. Harrington was decent, the rest? Meh.

Head to head FYI. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/george-mason/men/head-to-head.html

Now back to the Bonnies.
Thanks. And you are right about coaches. Would love to see Tony be bigly successful and stay for his entire career.
UCLA of the East! Wait, already been taken.;)

I can't be pollyannish any more. The Bunnies have owned us, and we are slumping badly. If I thought predicting a win would help, I'd do it. If I'm betting my own meager funds on this game, I take the Bunnies. I won't bet against my Patriots, but until they break this skid against one of the better A10 team's, we have to face facts.

Not offended by the expected thumbs-down responses

Bunnies - 80

Bonnies currently crushing URI. Everything goes through Venning. I'd like to see some different lineups with Kelly and Henry. I know Henry has been in a slump since his time away for personal issues, but I think he turns up this game and frees up some pressure on Kelly. Lookin forward to gettin back in the Patriot Center!

Don’t really think we matchup particularly well, not even taking into account our recent play. Stars need to align and everyone needs to play near perfect for a W. Think this might end up being a double digit loss.

"As a result, the result of this one was decided well before the final buzzer as the Bonnies handed the Rams their first defeat in Atlantic 10 play, once again showing the potential of this squad when clicking on all cylinders.

It also marked Bona's highest-scoring performance in regulation vs. an Atlantic 10 opponent in 44 years."

This is a big game if we are to right the ship and salvage any hope of a top 4 finish, so far we have lost 1 of 2 to GW and Richmond (at least both on road), and 1 of 1 to vcu.

Taking 1 of 1 from SBU puts us in a much better position vs having lost tie breaker to vcu, SBU and halfway to doing so against GW and Richmond - all who look like they will be in discussion for top 4.
