I think having some student specific dance cam type activities, while peppering the student section with tshirts and free pizza coupons will get them on their feet.

Do it when we force other team to call a timeout to keep momentum going.

Lots to like about the game last night, but the highlight for me was how Kory came out in the second half after BO went out. He took control and made a statement. Very impressive for the first game with a new team. Not only was the team captain out of the game, but also one of the leading scorers and he stepped up in both departments. Big ups to Kory for rising to the occasion.
100% agree here. Mincy just took control and looked like an explosive scoring point guard that we haven't had at Mason in years. Had something like 6 assists too which we were used to seeing in the boxscore last year. Just loved his moxy, his ability to get downhill, create for himself, and dish it when needed.

We have the mason maniacs which I assume are to do that- I can follow up to see if there's anything they can do to lead some cheers.
Thank you for trying to get our students back. I will say I do agree with the comment that there needs to be someone "leading", maybe 1 or 2 kids who basically go ape shit over everything, have face paint on and make people do things. Not sure if they'd be looked at with side eye or if students would see that as fun.

I know one thing that doesn't happen much anymore that I think is cool is everyone wearing gold. I know Friday is the gold rush game, but having everyone wear the same color in the student section makes a very cool effect.

Other than that, I'm not sure what really can make students act like college kids we see at other college basketball programs. Pretty much all the ideas have been beaten and many have been tried.

The student turn out was really good last night, and most of them actually stayed until the end. I hate to say it but its almost like we need a "cheerleader" (Not an actual cheerleader) like most MLS / NWSL teams have the front of their supporter sections, getting the fans rowdy, leading chants, being the voice that gets the students engaged no matter the score. The students have to be into it, on their feet most of the time (not all the time, lets take baby steps). We have to find a way to create the student fan culture, because right now its kind of non-existent.

I’ve tried to encourage the people on this board who live in the area to pool together and create a soccer-style unofficial supporters section and do exactly this (if you’ve got a large section of the season ticket holders standing all game, chanting, jumping, and singing it will spread around the arena and into the student section—not to mention a place for the students to graduate into once they leave school if they stay in the area, which will grow attendance and atmosphere over time).

The Maniaks should be leading the charge here, but they don’t.

Is there a box score online that has +/- information on the players?

My state-appointed therapist said I have experienced separation anxiety having to learn new players every season, and her solution was to avoid getting too emotionally attached to the individuals on our team. With that in mind, here is my take on yesterday's game:

I was really impressed with the shooting of #3 and #4 and the overall athleticism of those two as well as #0, #2, #10, #11 and #13. The 6 assists to go with 18 points by #3 was fantastic. We will be tough to defend in the open court with that many athletic guards/wings.

I thought our low-post game left a lot to be desired in the first half, but #35 really shook off the jitters and responded with 12 points in the second half. I really like the size and agility of #23 and hope last night was just a case of getting his feet wet.

I know it's the first game against a lesser opponent, but many of these numbers made an indelible impression on me and give me hope for a great season.

I know you were tongue in cheek, but there is some real truth in what you say.
One and done makes it not only impossible to emotionally invest in a player, but even to remember who played on the team once they're gone. So for me, I've gotten where I just pull for the guy that's stuck around. His name is George Mason. I pull for him and his teammates to win every game.
