Facilities and Arena discussion

I don’t disagree with anything you said, but it’s worth noting that a large number of students and staff already commute to campus daily. Fairfax is more than capable of handling the traffic that would come with a baseball stadium.

It may be a stretch, but if Mason invested more in the campus experience, more students might choose to stay on campus—ironically reducing traffic in the broader Fairfax area.
I don't any Mason baseball team draws enough fans to move the needle to affect rush hour traffic around university mall.. even without baseball...I don't see the intersection of Braddock and 123 getting better..only worse

I'm well aware of this fact.....but thanks for clearing it up. I'm making a greater point about the state of disrepair the arena is in outside of the new men's and women's basketball locker rooms.
Yea, im well aware of your point and the condition of the arena. But it isn't changing so I say increase the mold and viruses in that room especially when vcu comes to town.

How do you think the mold and viruses got there? It's kinda like a family reunion when vcu comes to town.

To merge this with the discussion of scheduling difficulties from another thread...

...Is this why we can't get higher rated teams to play us at home? ...because one may pick up the clap upon taking a whiz in a disease ridden visitors' locker room urinal?

EBA is a dump but unfortunately I think it's here to stay. I really struggle to see students showing up to anything on West Campus.

Not quite on topic but didn't know where to put is.

Kenpom has come out with ratings of Division 1 men's program's taking into account 1997-present.
The ratings of the teams in the A10 are as follows:

81 vcu
82 Dayton
95 Davidson
97 SLU
98 St. Joe's
100 Richmond
102 URI
108 St Bonaventure
111 Mason
113 Loyola
114 GW
135 LaSalle
136 Duquesne
194 Fordham

Some explanation from Pomeroy:
"I’ve updated the program ratings for another season with a new and improved formula. Past versions were a time-decay weighted average of adjusted net rating since the 1997 season with some influence from current conference strength and a dash of recruiting history. The new formula is similar, but the recruiting history now includes both transfers and freshmen (thanks, 247sports.com) and I’ve added a component of historic tournament performance.

There is only one way you should judge these ratings and that is based on which coaching job would the average human take if presented with two options. If you were the head coach at West Virginia (31st) and were offered the job Indiana (17th), would you take it? Most humans would. If you were the head coach at Maryland (19th) would you take the job at Villanova (11th)? Maybe not by secretly negotiating your exit while your old team is fighting for tournament glory. But nevertheless!
...
This season there were 23 people who were a D-I head coach last season and will be coaching a different team this season. Just three of them took jobs at lower-ranked programs.
....

[With respect to Florida St} Will Wade would have been a great choice, but if Loucks wasn’t already the obvious pick, FSU brass might not have had the fortitude to try to outbid others and delay their hire. If I ran a search firm, I’d have given a holler to Tony Skinn, but with just two years of experience at George Mason, you could have understood the reluctance to consider him yet."

"This plan also highlights the need to upgrade the 40-year-old, 10,000-seat EagleBank Arena, which will require spending up to $10 million."
