I would disagree with the writer when he implies the A10 is a better baseball conference than the CAA. The CAA had 2 at large bids to last years NCAA tourney and has been better over the years. Still, good to see us in the mix with a few weeks to go.

It's pretty decent. I can't remember anything not good about it.

The Patriots and the Hawks will meet this weekend for the first time in program history and for the first time as Atlantic 10 Conference members. Saint Joseph’s comes to Fairfax as the top team in the conference with an A-10 record of 15-5. Mason is currently tied for third with vcu at 13-6.

So Mason goes into the A10 championships as the number 3 seed. Of the teams ahead of us in the standings, we went 1-2 against St. Joes and 2-1 against St. Louis.

Saint Louis went into Saturday's final day a game up on Saint Joe's. SLU was 18-7 and SJU was 17-8. SJU defeated UMass 6-1 to improve to 18-8. SLU tied LaSalle 9-9 and the game was called because SLU had a pre-determined curfew and finished the conference season at 18-7-1. They the #1 seed in the tourney and is the only team to receive a first round bye in the 7 team tournament.

Not sure what the tie-breaker was had LaSalle beaten SLU had SJU and SLU both finished at 18-8.

So not only does SLU win the regular season on a tie due to a curfew, they also get to host the tourney.

We upset SLU in soccer, it would be great to hit them again (after their two OT wins against us in basketball, I'll take anything I can get).

Congrats to Mason...after a long rain delay, they advance in the winner's bracket with a 4-3 walkoff RBI in the bottom of the 11th. They face St. Joe's tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.

Hawks left the bases loaded in the top of the 9th.

vcu up next in a HUGE winner's bracket game tomorrow at 1 p.m. EST, noon Central.

Mason in the driver's seat at the A-10 baseball tournament after beating vcu 3-0 in the winner's bracket.

Anthony Montefusco was absolutely brilliant, went the distance on a 4-hitter.

We're now the only team left without a loss. Get to sit back and let the others wear out their pitching staffs in the loser's bracket.

It would certainly be interesting if we went to the NCAA tournament in men's soccer and baseball in the same season that men's basketball finished next-to-last in the A-10.

If we win the A-10, it sure would be sweet if the committee put us in the Charlottesville regional.

We most likely wouldn't win it -- UVa's pitching staff is absolutely dirty -- but at least it would be convenient for those of us who'd like to attend.

Would love to see continued and sustained success in men's soccer, baseball and add basketball to that. With our men's and women's track and field, I think we could finally call ourselves a successful athletics department if that were true.

George Mason (33-20) is now the only undefeated team in the double elimination tournament and advances to Saturday’s championship round that begins at Noon. Mason will await the winner of Friday’s final game that will feature vcu and the winner of Saint Louis and Saint Joseph’s. vcu drops to 36-19 on the season.

In the "just what we wanted" category, vcu and SLU tied at 5 in the top of the 13th.

Whichever team advances will be absolutely destroyed in the bullpen and have to beat us twice later today to win the auto bid.

It's set up for our guys about as perfectly as one could imagine. Now it's up to them to finish the job.

vcu won in 16 innings by a score of 8-6, in a game that took 5 hours 30 minutes.
