No one else has succeeded at GT either. It’s one of the more tougher jobs in the country.

But Hewitt's success was "weird". He only had a greater than .500 record in the ACC ONCE. (9-7, in 03'-04', the year he made the National Championship game) Eventually, he was paid to go away.

ok, sounds like no one from the boards joined. So I'll share the few notes that were shared with me:

-10-15 person attendance (HighSide is not a big place, but if you havent been, its a great beer bar with good asian fusion food.)
-Discussion was over 1.5 hours, interactive conversation, with a majority of attendance asking questions
-Coach Skinn "1 beer on coach" for students over 21 will more than likely happen this year
-Lewis is fully aware of the lack of quality MBB Adidas/Nike branded gear at the bookstore, he wants better gear, and is working on these improvements.

I think this is a great format, and thanks to everyone for putting it together. But without a transcript documented, audio recorded, video etc., its really a "if a tree falls in the forest [...]" event.

Not a knock on the quality of the food or beverage offerings (seems both are great) there but just don't understand why they picked such a small place to hold this at. Was this all by design to try and limit people attending to streamline the event flow and time management. Just curious as the thought process behind setting this up.

I think the fact that there were only 10-15 people there answers your question regarding location. And I think it's great! First, High side is owned by a Gold Room number. Also, being a unique location, those who are really interested could show up and be more (here using this word in this context) intimate with AD Marvin Lewis. People who are interested could ask questions instead of randos who just happen to be there. I'm glad it was done. And they should do it more.

I assume Lewis is doing a good job since no one here has been critical of him. Is he just getting a pass because the MBB and WBB programs are doing well? Correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t Washington hire both?

i think he is doing a good job - but there is more that could be done - for both the Men's and Women's BBall programs, starting with making sure the start times for Soccer, and WVB don't conflict with both Ball programs

This is just a thought… There’s a lot of great bars and restaurants in Arlington. Maybe, we could do a little outreach to our campus there and hold an event there.

Adding to trying to improve gear at the bookstore/arena: one big blocker is the Barnes & Noble managed bookstore, and how B&N has a deal with Nike. This apparently hurts our ability to have better Adidas gear. But Marvin Lewis is supposedly trying to work around this issue somehow.

Im sure there are D1 schools that have Barnes & Noble bookstores, Adidas athletics deals, that still have sweet Adidas gear available.

When does our Adidas deal expire?

Wood and Iron has a great happy hour. Decent food, people like smoked and grilled wings.
