Didn’t we get that with Duquesne??
No. They only lost by six. They were lucky against Fordham and St. Bonny

Your heard what Long said "We don't take inferior teams seriously in the first half.".

Their attitude is that their sh-t don't stink and Skin has playing not to lose....all that is going to eventually cause a crash like this...

If this a** kicking doesn't change them ...this team will finish anyway where from 7 to 9tmh in the standings.

Assessing the Atlantic 10's prospects

George Mason entered Tuesday night's game at Richmond within striking distance of the at-large discussion because of its top-50 resume. But after taking an 82-70 Quad 3 loss, the Patriots now have an even thinner margin for error. At just 3-3 over its last six games, George Mason is trending in the wrong direction.

However, all hope is not lost for the Atlantic 10's hopes of producing more than one bid. vcu is entering its Wednesday night game at La Salle in the "First Four Out" category. At 18-6 and 9-2 in the A-10, the Rams are in the hunt as a team that with at least some chance to join Atlantic 10 stalwart Saint Louis (23-1, 11-0) in the field.

However, the surest path for the A-10 to two-bid status after having just one team selected in two of the past three seasons would likely be for someone other than Saint Louis to win the conference tournament. With the Billikens firmly in at-large territory, this league could end up producing a "bid thief." George Mason and vcu are both good enough to enter the conference tournament on the wrong side of the bubble, hold the trophy on the end and then be dangerous in the Big Dance.

You do realize that 14 teams from the SEC alone made it to the tournament last year?

You are woefully underestimating the power conference numbers.

They aren't getting 14. 10 max and not sure they really get 10, 9 feels safer like safer bet. So there's 4/5 teams right there. However ACC will get a lot more so may just cancel out.

same problem as MTE. GW is a bigger draw than Mason.
can you explain?
do you mean
1) they have a bigger fan base?; or
2) that their fan base travels more/better than GMU's?

I do believe they have a 100-year history which is about twice the history of GMU BBall

I don’t know why. But it should be obvious that Mason doesn’t get the same respect at other teams. Don’t know if it’s brand awareness or address or something else.

Bracketology from The Athletic (subscription site):

Non Power Conference teams:

Locks: Gonzaga
Should Be In: Saint Louis, Utah St.
In the Mix: Boise State, Miami (OH), New Mexico, Saint Mary’s, San Diego State, Santa Clara, vcu
On the Fringe:
Belmont, George Mason, Liberty, Nevada
...

Should Be In
Saint Louis (23-1, 11-0 Atlantic 10)

What They Need: It was not a typical instant SLU demolition, but the Billikens eventually beat La Salle by 24 over the weekend. They now head to Loyola Chicago on Saturday to face the A-10’s worst team. Torvik’s T-Rank actually has the Bills at 100 percent to get an at-large, but I want to make sure they dismantle the Ramblers before anointing them to Lock status next week. If they avoid the Q4 disaster, even a loss at Rhode Island next week would not prevent them from clinching a bid.
...
In the Mix
....

vcu (19-6, 10-2 Atlantic 10)
Profile Strengths: No bad losses.
Profile Weaknesses: Zero Q1 wins.
Looking Ahead: vcu took care of business this week, thrashing hapless Dayton and leading wire-to-wire at La Salle. This profile is still not at-large worthy, but the Rams are giving themselves a chance to make a statement at Saint Louis in a week. First, they need to win at Richmond (Saturday) and at home versus George Washington (Tuesday), but if they do, that enormous Q1A opportunity against SLU will be an at-large life raft. It is up to vcu to seize the opportunity.

Saint Louis Billikens (Atlantic 10)

Updated: Feb. 18, 7:54 a.m.

The Billikens are a great story in their second season with Josh Schertz at the helm and a cast of characters that includes bespectacled big man Robbie Avila, tracking for the best SRS in program history. But Tuesday's loss at Rhode Island did put a dent in their at-large odds, dropping them to 87% -- which is how they've ended up back in the "should be in" zone. For now. Saint Louis ranks top 25 nationally in the résumé rankings and 24th in the predictive ratings, so it's still hard to see this group not making the field as an at-large team if necessary. But the next game, against red-hot vcu, suddenly takes on more significance than it seemed a few days ago.

Next game: vs. vcu (Friday)

vcu Rams (A-10)

Updated: Feb. 17, 10:25 p.m.

vcu hasn't made back-to-back NCAA tournaments since the Will Wade era nearly a decade ago, and the forecast models (which sit in the borderline 30% consensus at-large range) remain less than bullish on that streak ending this season, in part because the Rams are 0-4 against Quadrant 1 opponents with only one remaining shot at changing that (at Saint Louis on Friday). However, they are right in the middle of bubble territory in overall résumé (mid-40s nationally), and their remaining schedule is soft enough for more wins, so they can certainly strengthen their case. After pulling away from George Washington on Tuesday night, the Rams have now won an impressive 10 in a row and 15 of 17. Their next game against the Billikens, who just suffered a rare loss to another set of Rams (Rhode Island), will be massive for their at-large résumé.

Next game: at Saint Louis (Friday)
