Mason down 7-5 at the first TV to
URI has the tallest front line that I have seen this season
A lot of early missed shots
RI guards are quicker than what we normally face
------------
URI up 16-13 end of Q1
Offense goes stagnant
Refs calling a much tighter game
Still missing shots and giving up 2nd chance rebounds
Down 27-19 at the Q2 TO
------
Down 25-36 at the half
Walton sits the doesn't play until the 2nd half start and doesn't play until the tv TO
GMU down 17 at the Q4 TO
79-63 loss
A bad weekend for GMU bball
Hopefully we see URI in the A-10 Tournament Finals
Shot poorly, particularly early when URI was also cold. Walton was 0-9 in the first half, picked up her 3d foul fairly early in the second quarter with her sub at the table waiting for a stoppage as soon as she committed her second. She sat for not only the rest of the half but for the first part of the third quarter as well.
Komara played really well--double-double with lots of offensive rebounds. Enough so, we got many more shots than URI, just didn't make any of them.
Gray had 30 for them; pretty unstoppable maneuvering down low and really good form on her FTs. In the second half, their guards were getting layups as Brown, in particular, coouldn't keep in front of them.
We tried trapping in the 4th quarter, but URI was able to beat that fairly regularly.
Hoped to see a game that would help me get over Mason's men's game yesterday. Alas, not to be.
