Bullets win the NBA championship!

I miss the Sonics and I hope their fate doesn't befall the Trailblazers. We need some NBA in the PNW.

I believe the Blazers won in 77. Good 3 years for the PNW and basketball. The 70s seemed like a good time to be an NBA fan. A lot of parity at least in the back half of the decade.

I think we had the Bucks, Golden State, the Bullets, The Blazers, the Sonics, all win (Suns went to the finals and lost). Seems like a different team won almost every year.

Dave Twardzik, the guard who threw the lob in that sequence, played at ODU. Pretty sure he was also the Portland GM for awhile.

This past decade has been pretty good with parity. 8 different winners over the last 10 years. Have to to back to 2018 to get a repeat champion. 13 different championship appearance teams too. You get a couple of repeats (Celtics, Miami, Golden State). But that’s still better than when it was Boston and Lakers like every year.

I remember meeting Dave Twardzik as a kid at some ODU basketball thing. FWIW, he played with Dr. J on the Virginia Squires (ABA) at the Scope Coliseum. We used to go see them as kids.

The first NBA season after Queen released the still iconic, "We Will Rock You / We are the Champions". The Bullets adopted the tune as their anthem and the whole DMV was ROCKIN'! It was beautiful, man.
