Atlantic 10 release

"FAIRFAX, Va.- Graduate student goalkeeper Jaume Salvado was named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week and sophomore forward Martim Sereno was selected Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Salvado, from Barcelona, Spain, made six saves including four in the second half in the Patriots 4-1 victory over No. 11 Virginia in the home opener on Thursday, Aug. 28. The six saves are the second-most that he has recorded in a match as a Patriot.

Sereno, from Mira de Aire, Portugal, scored twice against the Cavaliers to record his first collegiate two-goal game. He tallied the first goal of the match in the 18th minute and scored George Mason's third goal in the 60th minute. For the game, Sereno took five shots with three shots on frame."

Interesting game. Glad they were able to bang one home in last minute. Missed the first half but the box score is all sorts of messed up. It shows Bucknell with like 25 subs haha.

Considerably fewer people at tonight's game than last week's game against UVa. Lot of back-and-forth; Mason with a speed edge and tried, with some success, to beat them deep (if that's even a term in soccer). We made a couple of bad turnovers in the first half but managed not to have to pay for..

We had a multiple chances late in the game and finally converted in the last minute. Nice win--Bucknell got 9 votes in the poll where Mason was listed as #21 nationally and this was their first loss in 4 games.

We play #6 West Va on Sunday (doubleheader with the women). Looks to be a good year and a competitive schedule!

That was an excellent win against Bucknell, previously ranked #27 in the country as psyclone mentioned. Bucknell actually possessed the ball majority of the game and had some very near misses, as did Mason - very evenly matched but our guys responded with the ice cold game winner, after giving up the 2-0 lead.

Bucknell made NCAA's last year, and both the teams look every part of NCAA teams this year - will be rooting for them rest of the season.
