Right and that’s why we’re not getting those games. Why is this so difficult to understand?
How are you so flip floppy within a single page of the same thread - is playing at P4’s getting us “punched in the face” or are we likely to go .500 in those games? WTF?

What no one is tying together in this back and forth, is that yes, there are obvious and well known scheduling difficulties that apply to all mid majors, but those general difficulties do not explain why our scheduling has been as terrible as it has been compared to our peers.

It literally kept us out of legitimate at large consideration last year and it needs to change. Other schools similarly situated, and some lower than us by most metrics, do it better.

Of course we need to see the rest of the OOC, but we are rightfully concerned when we are coming off the year we just had, the MTE is the single most important part of our OOC by giving us the best chance of getting some P4 scalps on a neutral court, and this is the crap MTE that we get/accept.

It wasn’t our schedule that scuttled our at-large changes but our shitty offense efficiency (coupled with losing to ECU and CMU, which were bad losses). Too many single possession games, too many OT wins by 1-3 points. The NET does not reward defense unless your offense is also good.

We played at Marquette last season with a less than 10% win probability. That’s effectively setting yourself to get punched in the face.

We can’t get games against P4s we can beat specifically because they know we can beat them. They have zero incentive to schedule Mason.

Why is this so hard to understand?

Laar year, Mason Preseason top 4-6 and pulled Marquette and Duke.

vcu is the early preseason favorite for this coming season and is loaded. Somehow they have the return home and home with New Mexico, Nevada, Battle for Atlantis and @NC state. So, no..it's not because marque teams are not willing to play is.

Neither New Mexico nor Nevada are P4s, Battle for Atlantis is an MTE (they always get good ones for many reasons) and NC State is the Will Wade connection.

Someone mentioned brand playing a role in MTE invites and it’s true, but I think that traveling fan support also plays a big role and that’s somewhere we don’t do great. Not saying it’s the sole reason but I think it plays a factor and is against us.

Getting back to our MTE, I’m listening to 3 Bid League, did anyone else know Okojie wound up at Pacific?

Why not target MTEs based on cities where we have a lot of Mason alums? i/e the big presence we had for the 2013 CBI game @ Santa Clara.

Sounds like GW has secured neutral site games against Florida and South Florida.

Not so patiently waiting for more to come out about our schedule. Need something to elevate the mood here post-MTE disappointment.
