Oh bull shit. It’s June 5 and we have almost an entirely new team, not even Kreskin has half a clue how good we’re gonna be.
You’re proving my point. Last year Skinn had continuity, he knew exactly what he had, a first place A10 team.

This year who knows

So you want to schedule more games we’re likely to lose? Even middling P4 teams win at least 75% of their OOC home games. Interesting strategy to build an at-large profile by repeatedly punching yourself in the face lol.

Where Mason’s schedule has been suffering for the past several years is not being able to get neutral court opportunities against P4s in MTEs. That’s where teams on our level have a real chance to take some quality scalps, but we can’t even get in the door coming off a 27-win season.
If we can’t get P4 at home and we can’t get P4 neutral - how the f**k else do you suggest improving our OOC resume?

Someone needs to talk to someone who can answer why our scheduling is stuck in the mud.

No NCAA in 15 years, no brand to speak of means no juju in the OOC, especially any of the upper tier MTEs. And not only no NCAA but decidedly mediocre to bad during most of those 15 years.

Kim English had it right on the scheduling when he said “we have to be a consistently top 75 team” to get good teams to want to play us.

We finished in the top 100 during both Skinn’s seasons so far (93 and 73 respectively), came one shot away from potentially making the NCAAs last season. He needs to get us to the promised land and things will open up.

I disagree regarding brand. We’re known for Patriot Pressure and our top 25 defense.

I understand where youre coming from. However, plenty of programs in the a10 who are as irrelevant as us seemingly get into better MTEs, and better games in general. Kim is right, but he also showed a willingness to run and do a home and home with URI who has been irrelevant since Hurley left,

Skinn has shown he can coach and we have been top 100 under him even when he was new. I didnt expect much going into year 2 with improvement as many programs may have seen it as a fluke, but if we cant even get some improvement off our best year in 15, then whats going on? Im willing to wait and see what everything shakes out on our schedule but so far its very underwhelming. If the excuse is “turnover”, then how does every program do it when they have turnover like us as well?

Something just seems off. Im very patient but something cant be right.

They may seem similarly irrelevant now, but I feel like you're thinking of Bona/Davidson and both of those programs have made multiple tournaments in the last decade, you can even include Rhody there.

This year's isn't great, but clearly a step up from the last 2-3 years. Everyone is having scheduling issues outside of vcu and Dayton, it is truly not just us, this is a mid major wide issue.

What is a step up from the last 2-3 years, our MTE? I would argue that getting Marquette (even at Marquette) was a better MTE than what we have this year. Even if that was nothing more than inviting us to get a beat down, we still got a top 25 opportunity out of our MTE. We'll be lucky if we get a top 125 opportunity out of the one this year.

As far as other appearances, Davidson hasn't made a tournament since 2015 ( whoops, 2022,on edit), Bonaventure hasn't made it since 2021. Rhode Island hasn't made one since 2018. I'll give you Bonaventure, but URI has taken a nosedive. Even St Joes, who hasn't made it since 2016, seemingly gets better games (yes they have the Big5 but still). Been a few years for some of these programs, but they seemingly still can get some good stuff. I'd point to Umass but they aren't in the league anymore.

There just has to be something to all of this. I'm not convinced its what we all think it is (value, ncaa appearances, etc).

Davidson has definitely made the NCAA more recently than 2015

I agree, there has to be some other internal blocker (budget?) preventing us from better MTE/neutral opportunities. I won't argue about the larger scheduling issues for mid-major's that's impacting everyone, but the MTE we're in this year is a joke.

SLU has 1 tourney appearance in the last 10 years, and were mediocre last season after being horrible the season prior. Their MTE is likely going to include three top 50-75 opponents.

Davidson has a potential top 50 opponent in their MTE (also playing Saint Mary's at home).

URI and Richmond both have projected top 100 opponents in their MTEs, not great but better than the best projected in ours (130 Loyola Marymount). The projections for the rest of the teams in ours: 141, 166, 214, 221, 240, 279.

I also believe that "brand" is critical for selection to the upper tier MTEs. And, I would rank George Mason's brand (with its frequently changing logo) below several A-10 schools including Dayton, vcu, Saint Joseph's, Davidson, Richmond, Saint Louis. and Loyola Chicago.

American can get those road games because they’ll almost certainly lose all of them. Are we supposed to want that for Mason for some reason I’m unaware of?
Skinn just built another roster than can win the A10 and make the NCAA. We could win at least 2 of the p4 road games on the schedule.

I doubt that is known outside of this message board. I don’t see Mason getting talked about on National programs.

Do any of you season ticket holders get an opportunity to ask why our scheduling is the way it is…?

I was a season ticket holder under Hewitt but I’m happy to ask this question. I don’t think I’ll be the only one asking. Mr. Met hopefully will ask too.

Right and that’s why we’re not getting those games. Why is this so difficult to understand?
