5-6 OOC record
will not play a full 31 game schedule, nor exhibitions - again

2 OT loses that could have been wins - Temple, Princeton
2 non-OT losses to Top 25 teams - Maryland, Ole Miss
Close, Non-OT losses - Liberty
5 expected wins
bad losses - Liberty

with better execution and a little more luck
8-3
W - Temple, JMU, FAMU, Georgetown, FGCU, Rider, Liberty, Princeton
L - Maryland, Murray State, Ole Miss

Hoping
1) the underclassmen have grown and are learning how to win the close games
2) the limited senior and grad student leadership can step up when and where needed
3) everyone finds their "clutch gene"
4) better free throw shooting
5) OOC schedule is more difficult than the A-10 Schedule

6) 16-2 A-10 record (away loss to Richmond and 1 upset away loss, 9-0 at home)

I fully agree with your "hoping" points. I'm thinking we're really missing Paula Suarez. Developed into a very good pg in her time at Mason and her calm demeanor was a nice blend with the others on the team, an asset badly needed in closing out games. Wasn't focused on scoring, but improved from 3 pt range and was particularly good at driving to the hoop and making contested layups.

Mary Amaoteng has some real quickness (6 steals vs Princeton!) and flash, but fans need to be patient as she has potential to be a star pg, imo. Kayla Johnson is starting to get more minutes lately. But both of them are freshman and will need to develop more to have us contend with the top of the A10.

Komara started in place of MJ Johnson against Princeton and appears to be a solid contributor.

The close of the last 2 games have been brutal--hoping that VBL is the one who can keep them from being too discouraged with those outcomes.

I definitely agree with you on Paula Suarez. There is a lot that goes on in practice that none of us see that contributes to clutch performance and leadership.

Mary A. seems to have "lapses and mental mistakes" on the court - but expected as a freshman. But the quicker he can lessen the that better the backcourt becomes.
