GIVING DAY 2023
Was given a stat that I believe is correct.

To date, the A10 has not had a transfer come in that is 6’9+ and averaged over 10ppg last season.

How can a 6'11" basketball player avg 3 rebounds a game? Did he play minimal minutes a game? So something is missing here. We already have this player, Stas Sivka.
Sounds like coach ran out of NIL money.
Big men take time to develop. Look at Oduro’s stats as AJ Wilson’s backup (or whatever we are calling how DP used him) his Sophomore year - right before his big breakout under KE. The system and the development of bigs is really important. I think Riley is primed for a big breakout season.

Also the Samford’s ultra-high tempo system isn’t really conducive to fighting for rebounds. I think he is a really good fit for Mason. And if not, what’s the worst thing that happens? Ellington gets more minutes in the 5 split?

Also note that Allenspach has 30+ lbs on Stas, and played C in US high school and AAU programs. He is used to the physicality of American basketball. Right now Stas is more of a stretch 4 than a 5.

Haynes got over 7-figures in NIL from UC to be in a co-starter situation with a 7’2 former starter from UCF (that averaged 9-9-2). The big market was insane this year. Allenspach has significant interest and offers from P4 schools. Anyway you slice it getting a 6-11 250, 4 star transfer big is a good get!

He's a pick and pop big. Which means he slides to the 3 pt line when the ball handler drives to the basket and draws allensbach's defender. He shoots an open 3 hence he's not in a position to grab rebounds much of the time.

Guess not

I would have to see him up against a legit big to say he should be out for sure starter. Although Ellington looked less impressive than Allensbach (who did not look super great to me —most of his points came when they played small and had like a 6’5 guy trying to guard him).

I have this feeling Kanga is going to force himself into more and more playing time as the season goes on. I think he might wind up having the biggest minutes share of the 3 bigs by the seasons end (although I don’t think any of them are going to go north of 25 mpg unless injuries or serious foul trouble knock one or two other players out of the rotation).

We will see though. He can make a FT and that’s gold from that position in my eyes.

Skinn constructed this roster to spread the floor with multiple ball handlers, player makers and scorers and won't be completely dependent on the post game to win games( per skinn, 2/3's of the playbook ran thru Haynes last year).

The center will to still need to post up and score...just not as much.. unfortunately, every team moving forward is much smaller until Tech so we won't know if how the centers fare against similar size opponents...possibly FAU in the sunshine slam..that's it.

I wouldn’t necessarily count out anyone yet. This time last year, Haynes looked like a disappointment and Gio looked the better big man…and we all see how that turned out.
