No issues with what either coach said. They both are defending their conference and kudos to both of them for doing that. Coach K is correct when he says "the A-10 is a really good conference" and he is also correct when saying "put them in our conference and go through the meat grinder that our conference has to go through." The top half of the A-10 can compete with just about anyone but top to bottom the ACC is better. OCM is good at this as he used to always lobby for the little guy but now he is all about the ACC and the "big dogs." Good for Shaka for defending the A10 but if (when) he moves on to a "bigger" conference he will be doing the exact same thing that K is doing now.
Understood, however the manner and tone Coach K took in expressing this was disrespectful to a very good conference in the A10. In one breath he says the A10 is one of the best conferences in the country and then rolls his eyes an says "Come on" as if the ACC is light years ahead of the A10. No doubt, the ACC is better but not that much better.
These major conference schools haven't gotten used to the fact that they are not the be all and end all of college basketball. This isn't football where the major conferences have a monopoly on being good. The fact is, you don't need a gigantic budget or fanbase in order to develop a highly competitive basketball team as you do with football.
They go to their fundraisers masturbating themselves on what a great a great history, resources blah blah they have, but they just need to get used to the fact that conferences like the A10 are here to stay. And even when they try to poach the best teams from the A10, this conference STILL gets 4, 5 or 6 teams in every year and THIS is what chaps their asses, nothing else.
