FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason men’s basketball legend Lamar Butler will join play-by-play veteran Bill Rohland as color analyst for the 2014-15 men’s basketball season. Butler, Mason’s Atlantic 10 Conference Legend last season, will make his debut as color analyst opening night, Friday, November 14 when the Patriots tipoff the season against Cornell.
“I’m looking forward to bringing all the action of Mason basketball to the fans as a member of the broadcast team for the Patriots,” said Butler. “To come back to a place where I have so many great memories and be a part of something I enjoy fulfills a dream of mine.”
Butler played for the Patriots from 2001-06 as Mason compiled an overall record of 101-53 during his time on the court, which included two NIT appearances and the historic run to the Final Four. Butler finished his career just shy of reaching the 1,500-career points mark as the local native scored 1,488 points during his collegiate career.
