• THANK YOU DONORS!!
I'd like to personally thank everyone that participated in our first donor drive in years! We raised over double the amount that we set as a goal. You guys are awesome! This money helps to fuel much needed upgrades around here - and also includes monthly server costs and software licenses. We are excited for the future and your donations ensure that there will be a place to talk about George Mason basketball (among other things) for seasons to come! - The Management

South Dakota St. was picked 1st in the preseason Summit League poll. The Jackrabbits won at least a share of their fifth straight regular season title in 2021 so they have established a winning tradition. Two Jackrabbits (Baylor Scheierman & Douglas Wilson) were selected to the first team All-Summit League first team. Noah Freidel was selected to the second team.

South Dakota St. is currently 5 - 2 on the season.

Wins: Bradley (81-65), Stephen F. Austin (83-71), Montana St. (91-74), Presentation (99-62), Nevada (102-75)
Losses: Alabama (104-88), Washington (87-76)

Schedule: https://gojacks.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule/2021-22
Roster: https://gojacks.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster
Stats: https://gojacks.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2021-22

South Dakota St. has three players who average double figures. 6’4” Noah Freidel averages 19.6 points per game to lead the Jackrabbits. 6’7” Douglas Wilson is second on the team with 15.4 points per game. 6’6” Baylor Scheierman averages 13.3 ppg & 10.0 reb per contest. 6’4” Alex Arians (8.7 ppg) and 6’8” Matt Dentlinger (6.9 ppg) round out the starting lineup. Overall 9 Jackrabbits play double figure minutes.

The Jackrabbits have averaged 88.6 points per game while giving up 76.9. South Dakota St. is shooting 50.8% from the floor and 43.3% from 3. Opponents are shooting 44.6% from the field and 36.0% from 3.

The game is on ESPN+.

My prediction: SDSU is a very good team. Do not underestimate them! They have home state advantage. We’ll struggle in this one given our overall lack of depth and the fact that this is the 3rd game in 3 days and our 8th game in just 16 days. Our confidence is shot. I hate to say it but this is another blowout loss. SDSU 85 - GMU 62. We limp out of South Dakota!

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!

Discuss.

Interesting - they lost to the Huskies too.... We can't get off to a sluggish start again to have a chance.

I watched some of the game last night. Washington used their athleticism to get to the rim a lot. Brown had himself another game (probably going to be tournament MVP). SD St. kept it close in the second half and probably expended a ton of energy to try to come back from 10 down at the half.

Both teams should be tired. I’m expecting a sloppy game.

We lost to UW by 3, SD blows out Nevada by 27. Nevada Stomps us.

Wildly inconsistent performances can be expected in the OOC for most teams but especially one with a new coach and different rosters.

I know message boards are the worst place to preach patience but we all, especially me need to take a step back and see what solutions CKE can come up with for a program that has stunk for a decade.

Ya can’t judge a chef’s meal in the middle of preparation and before he has all the ingredients he needs.

As Americans we love instant gratification and even demand it. But on this let’s be like China and play a little longer game than we’re used to. It could lead to magnificent things!

Yep, we're fans, and at least I tend to run very hot or very cold, depending on the "now" of the team. I want to be patient, but boy it's difficult to do that!

Nobody who watched Mason play for the past 6 years should be surprised we don’t have guards capable of challenging shots on the perimeter without getting blown by like they’re statues.

KE has upgraded the talent on the roster and there is more on the way, but Rome wasn’t built in a day. The reality may be that other than Oduro, none of the Paulsen guys can play at the level we need to become an NCAA team again … and they will be encouraged to find a school more appropriate for their abilities.

I think it's OK to admit that once they went 4-0, blasting 3 teams and beating UMD everyone's expectations shot way through the roof. I remember reminding myself that my expectations were getting a bitt too lofty for the team.

Time to come back down to earth a bit.

I still think this team can be very good, but perhaps its floor and its ceiling is a bit lower than that first week suggested.

Very difficult. Trust me I wasn’t feeling all Zen last night either, LOL. My language and behavior wasn’t exactly balanced. But when we zoom out, it’s way too early to judge.

I’m still rainbows and butterflies here even after three bad showings. I’m not at all worried, the talent upgrades we brought in over the course of a few weeks is very encouraging. If we do bring cooper back for another year, I hope we go grab a stud PG from the portal because I don’t think it’s fair to throw Dinkins into the fire that early as a small PG unless he is unequivocally ready to handle it and handle it for 28+ mins a game.

Probably not gonna watch the game tonight and will just read recaps here. Will be interested to see how we compete in the remaining OOC games, which are chock full of very winnable contests.

Agreed with what I am reading on the above. Whether we like it or not, the growing pains are here. The program still has the right leader at the helm and he has already upgraded the potential very quickly. While the last few games have been discouraging, we also saw some very good signs out of the first few games. Quite a roller coaster. Hopefully they'll be able to correct somethings through December with some strong showings before conference play.

The good news is that by not winning 30+ games and making the sweet 16 this year, we'll be able to keep English at least another year. ;)

The craziest thing is… instead of when DP took over and it was what if he kept all of Hewitts recruits… now I wish that only Oduro, Henry and XJ stayed and CKE could have brought in 5 more transfers/freshman what possibly could have been this season. We will be really good when we have a team full of CKE’s guys
