I'd like to personally thank everyone that participated in our first donor drive in years! We raised over double the amount that we set as a goal. You guys are awesome! This money helps to fuel much needed upgrades around here - and also includes monthly server costs and software licenses. The nightmare of a season resumes, or does it? I am posting this today (1/8) since all other action has been postponed. Again, I am out of action beginning Monday the 10th so if other games are actually played in the meantime someone else will need to post the game thread. I am really going to miss going to the game, this will be my first miss at GW in I don’t know how long. Tonic pregame and the dump that is the Smith Center is always a good time to look forward to. Just trying to keep up with the MADNESS that has become our season.

GW is currently 4 - 10 on the season and 0 - 2 in A10 play after two non competitive defeats. They are 3-3 at home, 0-5 on the road, and 1-2 at neutral sites. I'm anal retentive when it comes to having the right info posted.

History: Including tournament play GMU is 6 - 11 against the Colonials as a member of the A10 although they have won 6 of their last 8 against the Colonials..

Wins: St. Francis, Wright St., Coppin St., Radford,
Losses: Maryland, San Diego, Cal St. Fullerton, Mass Lowell, Kent St., Missouri St., Boston University, Charlotte, Dayton, VCU
Canceled/Postponed: Maryland Eastern Shore, St. Bonaventure, St. Joe’s, Duquesne,

Schedule: https://gwsports.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule
Roster: https://gwsports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster
Stats: https://gwsports.com/documents/2021/11/10//2021_22_MBB_Notes_Part1.pdf?id=4608

GW is led by 6'2" James Bishop (15.6 ppg), 6'4" Joe Bamisile (13.8 ppg & 6.1 reb), 6'4" Brendan Adams (9.8 ppg), and 6"8" Ricky Lindo (8.7 ppg & 8.1 reb). 6'11" Noel Brown has served as the fifth starter for the majority of their games. 6'2" Brayon Freeman has started once. 6"10 Dean Hunter and 6'5" Amir Harris play double digit minutes off the bench.

GW averages 64 points per game while giving up 71.4. The Colonials shoot 40.8% from the floor and 29.5% from 3. Opponents are shooting 43.6% from the field and 31.5% from 3. The Colonials shoot 64.7% from the free throw line. They have been out rebounded by opponents by 6 boards per game. They average 13.4 turnovers per contest.

The game is on CBS Sports Network.

My prediction: GW just isn’t very good. We should win this one. GMU 75 - GW 71. Fans across the DMV will be confused when news outlets report that the James Mason Patriot/Dukes squeaked by the George Madison Colonials at the Fairfax Foggy Bottom Bank Arena in Baltimore.

Discuss.

Your last paragraph. Tongue in cheek, but sadly all too true. Still, hilarious! Get back soon!

GW played poorly against Dayton and never really competed even though Dayton had 18 turnovers. Gave up lots of uncontested layups. But it was their first game in a month.

@Patriotsince81 hope you are okay and you get back on here in another week.

Anyway, I watched GW yesterday and like @psyclone said, they played poorly. Lots of silly turnovers, disorganized offense, bad shot selection, ole' defense. Dayton really ran circles around them and GW didn't even look like they belonged on the same court. I think Dayton consistently ran their cuts 2-3 times in a row and GW had no clue what to do. Christian is floundering there, and I have to think hes got one more year to get his shit together before he is sent packing.

Some of that is because GW didn't play for a month, some of that is because GW is straight up horrible. Mason is also coming off a long pause so we'll see how that impacts them.

That said, even though both programs have never really been good playing against one another in A10 play, it still has a local rivalry vibe to it. It won't be an easy one by any stretch. Maybe at some point of our lives, Mason GW will have a big game local vibe to it.

That said, if Mason shows their toughness defensively, Bishop doesn't score 40 points on less than 20 shots, and GW plays their overall disorganized way, they should be able to bring home a win. Hopefully no rust.

Hope so! We'll be 2-4 games behind all of the other A10 teams in games played by next Monday.

For perspective, SLU only played 10 games in the regular conference season last year and the Bonnies played 15.

VCU blew out GW by almost 30. Honestly I didn't watch much of this game.....the Dayton-SLU game was more interesting.

Kenpom has Mason favored by 6. GW is in the bottom 100 in shooting percentage for 2's, 3's, and FTs. But at least they have played 2 league games recently (although poorly in both).

Didn't see the coach's video of practice....were any players missing?

GW is a big yikes for the league. They dont do anything that makes me think they are getting out of the PIG this year. They very well could end up being the #14 seed.

They get out rebounded, turn the ball over at a high clip, dont shoot well, dont share the ball. 295 in the NET right now.

Yikes.
