Women's Volleyball Season opens tonight - Friday, 8/25

In the DMV, the weekend kicks off with the DC Challenge
a round robin schedule of games between GMU, GWU and Howard

GMU starts play tomorrow/Saturday with 2 home matches
2 pm vs American
7 pm vs Georgetown

then home again on Sunday vs Howard at 2 pm

This year's team should be an improvement over last years 7-22 team

Patriots Drop Two on Opening Day - George Mason University Athletics

George Mason women's volleyball opened the 2023 season in exciting fashion on Saturday despite dropping both matches to American and Georgetown.

"The Patriots were able to get within one point of the victory, 14-11, but two kills each from Holly Hopkins and Adelina Berisha an several forced Mason errors opened the door for the Eagles' comeback and the victory."

The George Mason women's volleyball team dropped a tight battle to the Howard Bison (2-1), 3-2, on the final day of the DC Challenge.

"Mason got off to a strong start in set five, scoring five of the opening seven points to force a Howard timeout. The Patriots and Bison traded points until senior Taylor Terry out down her first kill of the afternoon to stretch the lead to 11-7 and force another Bison timeout. Another Terry kill brought Mason to match point (14-12), but great defense at the net by the Bison on two blocks for the final two points gave Howard the comeback win."

The Patriots could be 2-1 rather than 0-3 this season as they had multiple match points in the season opener and yesterday.

Women's Vball might be my favorite fall sport. They're great athletes and the sport is a lot of fun as a spectator with its back and forth.
