The Kansas City Royals, headed into another offseason without a postseason appearance to end the year, fired longtime lead baseball executive Dayton Moore Wednesday, with owner John Sherman making the announcement at a Kauffman Stadium news conference.

MLB Tonight network commentators were very complimentary about Moore in covering his firing. Brought up the time a few years ago when KC wouldn't give permission for the Braves to talk with him about their GM opening.
