Goodbye Jalen Haynes

I hate to break it the news but Haynes looks like he completely transformed his body ala Keyshawn Hall...6'8 230 all muscle and not an ounce fat. If you combined his transformation with his skill..he is a borderline NBA prospect.

Love Jalen and he gave us all he had for one season (though 2 of his final 3 games were some of his most frustrating), but Dayton is now paying a kid who has played 1 of the last 3 seasons. I'm also not so sure his bulk wasn't a big part of what made him effective. If he's slimmed down he may not have that ability to play through someone's chest and bully his way to the rim. He'll still make an impact, but a 6'8" slimmed down 5 that already struggled against length might not be as productive as people think. Here's hoping he at least beats vcu.

Best part is we have a coach who knows him very well! Will know how to defend him. Looks like Tony went out and got some tough kids this go around. Kanga won't back down, thats for sure!
Him and Le'tang (sp) gonna be tough.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: for the first time in a long time, I’m not worried about the other coaches in the A-10. That hasn’t been the case in the past; honestly, most years over the last decade we were just hoping our staff would be somewhere in the middle of the pack.

Those top teams will be tough, no doubt, but I think Tony will have a plan. The key is staying healthy. And if those teams really are that good, even better, it helps the whole conference. Having vcu, Saint Louis, and Dayton all in the mix for tournament bids boosts strength of schedule, NET rankings, all of it. GW might be spending a lot, but I’m not concerned there; the coach just isn’t that strong. If anything, having three other good teams benefits Mason more than it hurts. If the goal is for everyone else to be bad so we can coast to the auto bid, then what are we even doing in the A-10? Might as well be in a one-bid league. The A-10 isn’t what it once was, but it’s still at least a two-bid league.

So no, I’m not saying we’ll walk into Dayton and win easily, but I do think O’Connor, Okie, Kanga and Oliogu-Elabor are going to have something to say about it. Maybe Tony attacks their bigs the same way we did with Robbie or when Okie Beat them at home 3 years ago.
