Maybe miffed that Tony didn't really empty the bench until the last 2 minutes. None of SLU's starters played more than 27 min. Long and Mincy played their usual 37 and 35 minutes, respectively.

We do have injuries to our guards, though. Not sure it makes sense to put in walk-ons with 3-4 minutes left. A lot could happen in that much time.
Perhaps. But we did have a 34 pt lead with 5 minutes left.
Not that it matters, but the big win moved our Kenpom from 109 to 94, SLU goes from 31 to 40.
Good of him not to use Avila as an excuse.
He had been "questionable" before the game-not sure of the reason. But I noticed during warmups that Avila cut his short and went over to sit on the bench by himself. When Schertz made his appearance and walked near him, still by himself on the bench, they had a short conversation. I'm assuming about how he was feeling.
Clearly Avila started , although ineffective, perhaps due to picking up 2 quick fouls. Avila's 12 minutes was less than half of his usual time on the floor and 7 minutes less than he played in a 60+ win against a non-Div 1 team.

The turn around started in against St. Bonaventure and continued at vcu and carried over with St. Louis.
