Re-reading this thread is pretty interesting. Bookmarking this for January — I think BOC is our starting PG again this year. Will be interested to see.

Same prediction as last year: if he’s starting (especially at the point), we have a lower ceiling. If he’s our 6th man, filling in at the 1-3 we will have a higher ceiling.

He’s the perfect glue guy on a really good team and could be 6th man of the year.

I said this about Jared Billups and look what happened when he was moved out of the starting lineup and became our 6th man.

And this is no knock on BOC. Every team needs a glue guy who will do whatever it takes for the team to win.

"George Mason men’s basketball player Brayden O’Connor and George Washington women’s tennis player & SAAC member Solange Skeene joined the roundtable discussion to present their experiences as Atlantic 10 Conference student-athletes to the A-10 governance groups. A native of Ottawa, Ontario, O’Connor highlighted his experience overcoming adversity as an international student-athlete, emphasizing improvements in travel, facilities, and nutrition since coming to the A-10 while also monetizing his personal brand through NIL."

No offense meant, but did he even get any votes last season for third team? How does a guy go from nothing to first team preseason?

Two returning all-conference players?

He also became a much more composed player in the last third of the season. And maybe that coupled with an extra year working with Skinn and having a more pure point guard partner and able to play off the ball has some of the coaches and media thinking he could take a big jump this year?

In a perfect world, BOC will be playing off the ball, which should suit him better. Even then, making the jump to first-team All-Conference would be an incredible leap.
At yesterday's scrimmage, he definitely wasn't playing pg. Although he did touch the ball quite a bit, it was more looking to drive to the hoop. Certainly looked like an All-Conference player in the first 10 minutes.

Preferred Walk-On
Even if he comes off the bench, when we look back years later back on this championship winning team remember how much BOC did for us last year too playing point guard cause someone had to.

We have two PG's in Mincy and Long who will be handling the ball. BOC will be off the ball - SG. BOC's mission is to score points. He's got the mid-range game to score and can attack the rim and get buckets there or score FT's when they foul him. The A-10 will put their best defender on him each night.... question is has he developed enough to handle that pressure and be the guy when we need him.

We need him to take a big scoring jump from last year (9.2 ppg) where this year we need him pouring in 13-16 points a game in order to be a Top 4-5 team in the A-10. Can he consistently score 14-16 points a game in the A10 is going to be the question mark. Has the tools to do it, just gotta execute.
