When will Mason realistically get a new stadium.
They need premium suites. That naming right deal would sky rocket if they had suites.
I personally think it’s doable, need to get the BOV on board then probably a few years lobbying Richmond. Current political environment is probably more favorable for it than in the past. Pitch it as an event center for the whole region. Say EBA is inaccessible or hosts a rare endangered bird and can no longer be used or something.

LOL......This is NOT doable, unless someone inherits millions of dollars OR wins millions of dollars in the lottery and donates some those of millions dollars to the University .....otherwise George Mason must recognize that it is stuck with an imperfect aging (but still very serviceable) Patriot Center/EBA ...sorry that's the truth.

By way of comparison, UNC Used Carmichael Auditorium from 1965- 1986. Maryland Used Cole Field House from 1955-2002. U.Va used University Hall from 1965-2006.................However Duke still uses Cameron Indoor Stadium which opened in 1940 in and Virginia Tech has used Cassell Coliseum since 1962. However, closer to home, JMU's, arena which opened in 1982, was replaced in 2020.

I bolded a specific statement in the post making a joke.

Marvin Lewis, the George Mason Athletics Director, is 100% aware of this and said he wants EBA to have a nice dedicated space for different groups, like the business community, for this upcoming season.

I liked the concept of Mason removing the bleachers and setting up those hospitality tabletops.

The idea was cool, but the execution looked trashy with the curtains. If they made it look a little more polished, it could actually be a great setup. The way the Wizards do the Hennessy Courtside Lofts is pretty neat and has a much cleaner look.

The further monetization of every aspect of sports really needs to stop. Having courtside suites/premium areas is insane. Put as many fans there as you can. Teams are really doing everything they can for more suites, more premium areas, more credit card holder lounges, etc and it's a terrible trend. Anything that Ted Leonsis thinks is a good idea should be looked at with as much skepticism as one can muster.

EBA is already a library, taking fans away from behind the basket to put in tables would be just be waving the white flag on the whole game day experience. If the AD really wants to add more premium sections they need to go the Robbins Center route and put them up in the corners.

EBA is not coming down or being rebuilt for probably another 20 years. They will continue to renovate certain areas inside and outside during that span but as long as the foundation is in tact and no major structural or infrastructure problems..... we will ride this arena out until it goes almost against safety and compliance codes and structure deemed not safe for inhabitants.

You all can suggest certain renovations over the next 20 years.... they will be gathered and set into a priority list - something along these lines: must have, need to have, nice to have type lists by the current and future AD's.

I would turn your arena complaints to other areas. :)
