The waiver for a medical hardship for O'Connor should be automatic. For Long, a waiver for an additional year of eligibility would be more problematic.
Listen to yesterdays post game at the 9:18 mark, Tony addresses Jahari 's eligibility question.

It sure sounds like he's coming back next year and there's an outside chance for another 2nd additional year after that.

That was NOT my interpretation. Mine was that he already graduated at UMD, and there is a possibility of another year, but nothing concrete.

Agreed. Perhaps one more year. May be a bit of a long shot in that it sounds like some time has passed since one of those (season-ending?) injuries occurred.

Kenpom data indicates that, in addition to missing the entire 2025 season at Maryland, when Long was with Seton Hall in 2022 he only played in 5 early games.

I wouldn't bet on getting the waiver.

I dunno. I have to disagree here—partly based upon optimism, and partly because I don't think there's a "statute of limitations" on the matter.

The facts are the facts no matter if the time frame was Long's first season or fourth. The facts are that he played in only five early games during the season in question. And, why should the fact that Long, deciding not to apply for this particular waiver closer to the date of injury, be held against him?

I'll bet you a Gold Room beer, and give you bag-o-popcorn odds, that Long gets the waiver. ;)

His case is problematic. Next season would be his 7th year of school, and he's played in 5 seasons including the 2020-21 pandemic season and the injury-shortened 2021-22 season.

I'd love to be wrong!

Pretty sure at the end of the press conference that Tony said that he graduated from Maryland. He's listed as a Grad student on the roster page. That page doesn't give any other info, but typically it's one of the master's programs.
