Worst stretch in ____?

On the heels of the best start in school history at 18-1, first home win over vcu in 10 years, 9 game winning streak, yada yada yada, we stumble at URI but win next couple, then are apparently broken by Duquesne starting a 6 game stretch where we lose 5 of 6 overall, Including 4 straight losses of 12,19,15 and 18 pts in games that were never really competitive.

Is this the worst 6 (or 4) game stretch in the modern era (which I would define as starting with Coach L’s 2nd year)?

I went back and looked Hewitt 9-22 team..It's the worst stretch since that team.

I don’t necessarily know if being “the fellowship of the miserable” to quote Pitino when he was talking about the Boston media helps things. Let’s try to stay positive, beat the Bonnie’s and hope for a March madness tourney of some shape.

I would still say starting 10-1 and finishing as a pillow fight team was worse than this. Sure, the slipper fell off much earlier (the beat down by a mediocre TCU team to end the OOC), but I’m sure everyone remembers what we were thinking when we won the MTE by beating Nebraska and New Mexico State only to
Finish 5-13 and in the pillow fight.

Mercifully, COVID cancelled our inevitable destruction at the hands of Bonaventure.

2009-2010 i think we started off well then collapsed. Same deal with the one year of Paulsen,

Maybe not quite so bad (other than losing to Fairfield in one of those dumb secondary tournaments).

Although you retraumatized me: I forgot about that really bad Radford loss that year *shudder*

for reference: https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/george-mason/men/2010-schedule.html

They were 15-7 and then finished 17-14, and then added the Fairfield loss. Of course different time, different era. We knew there would be continuity and improvement.

Today its just boom and bust. Some teams finish strong and some teams don't last through the guts of conference play.
