One aspect I haven't seen mentioned in regards to Josh's announcement is that Josh's brother is coming to play for Mason next year. The Oduro family seems to be all in for Mason (I've talked with them at games). Unless Josh were to get feedback from the NBA folks that indicated he would likely be a high draft pick, and who could blame him with that kind of feedback, I'm willing to bet Josh wants to come back and play with his brother.

These camps will only help him as a player and make him a better prospect for next year's draft. And it doesn't do the NBA any good to have a ton of college students declare for the draft only to go undrafted. Realistically, he would have to be one of the top 60 players coming out of college to be selected, then you get in to position numbers. He may be big for the A-10 but for the NBA, he's a good size but not unique. So does he need to be one of the to 60, or one of the top 10 guys who are around 6" 9' coming out?

I don't know, I'm just speculating, but I do expect Josh to be back in a Mason uniform for 22-23.

Josh will be back.

The bigger question is why wouldn’t every junior in country that avgs over 10 a game do the same thing? Have NBA scouts tell you where you are and what you need to work on to make it to the league? Seems like a no brainer.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty clear that he's going to get a workout in, be told that he needs to get stronger and be more of a bully down low. Maybe work on his shooting range. And then he'll be back improved after an offseason program focusing on those items.

I thought the wording of Josh's statement was pretty clear - at this point he's going through the draft evaluation process, not entering the draft itself. He also wasn't saying goodbye. Compare it to many of the other statements from players who clearly said cya.

Add in what Kim said on the Coach's Show, and I don't understand the panic. Some of y'all are just looking for reasons to be miserable.

I didn't have the benefit of listening to KE's coach's show before I saw the post from Oduro. You guys have walked me back from the ledge. Gonna put the Xanax back in the bottle and go for a nice long walk.

Oduro was definitely my favorite player on the roster this year, but I would be blown away if he was drafted. At this moment, he is not at all what I believe the league is looking for. What he is, is smart, focused, adaptable, and hard working. Going through this process, listening, learning, and coming back for another year is going to be great for him and great for Mason.

He's good enough and driven enough that he might actually be draftable after another year of development, but I would be truly shocked if any NBA scout said he's there now. Not a criticism of Josh, just an acknowledgment of the fact that there are different styles of basketball in the world and his current self is better suited for the international game than the NBA game.

I love Josh but he ain't getting drafted this year, next year, or if even he uses his covid year (yes please!), the year after next. He just is not athletic enough. Drew Timme is a similar player but an inch taller, more skilled, has been one of the best players in all of college basketball for the last two years and he MAY get drafted late in the second round. Unless Josh grows another 2 inches or adds another 2 inches to his vert he's looking at a very productive career overseas whenever his time at Mason is over. Not a slight at all, he's already one of the best ever to lace'em up for Mason. Hope the draft process serves him well and he comes back ready to kill it in the A-10 next year.

i saw this chart and thought of Josh
He has made TREMENDOUS gains amd improvements in his game under KCE
and i hope that continues to improve
plus i hope that the NBA Scouts tell him what he needs to work on and he also does that (with the help of the GMU coaching staff)

Oduro is the first player in Mason history to be named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team. He was an NABC All-District 4 First Team and VaSID First Team All-State selection. He finished in the top-10 in the league in scoring, rebounding and blocks. He was one of just three players in the nation to average at least 18-plus points, shoot 52 percent or better from the floor and tally at least 1.5 blocks per contest. He posted four 30-plus point efforts, 11 games with 20 or more points, and scored at least 10 in 23 of the 27 games he played.

Eastman was the 2021 Atlantic 10 champion in cross country, becoming Mason's first athlete since 2013 to win the individual title. She qualified for her second consecutive NCAA Cross Country Championship by placing seventh in the NCAA Southeast Region, one of the toughest in the country. She is only the sixth-ever Mason female athlete to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships and the first since 1996. She earned Second Team All-America honors after qualifying for the NCAA Track & Field Championships in spring of 2021. She is a Provost Scholar-Athlete, A-10 All-Academic selection and USTFCCCA Academic All-American as well as CoSIDA All-District honoree.
