In 2024 its increasing unusual for kids to be ok with playing the defensive stopper/glue guy role that Jared plays. Kudos to JB for taking this role and running with it. Glad we have him for 2 more years. If he can work on his offensive game just enough to be a legit threat to score his value goes thru the roof. Cheers to JB!

We just need two more defenders like Okojie, Newton, and Billups, dial up the pressure and get out in transition. Billups will score a lot more points if he can run at the rim on a fast break.

We just didn’t generate enough turnovers and steals this season.

If Billups can improve offensively, and honestly only even slightly, then teams won't be able to sag off of him as much and it'll really spread the floor. He's shown flashes...I'm sure if he comes back and he gets a whole summer to work it'll do wonders.

It's not crazy to think that Billups - with his ability to lock down the opposing team's best player - could have a nice professional career if he improves on the offensive end. And maybe at the highest level a la D'Andre Bembry, Matisse Thybulle, Briante Weber, etc.

While Bembry averaged 17+ at SJU, he scored most of those points around the rim and finishing in the open court. He was not a very good shooter and never got better. He was an excellent defender and that was the role he played in the NBA.

Thybulle was a 30% 3 pt shooter when he left U of Washington and 41% overall. He's grown into a decent long range threat but it took a few years. Thybulle was drafted in the 1st round because of his defensive skill set and the belief he could develop his offensive game.

I'm a big fan.

Marquise Moore blew up into a two-way superstar as a Senior. His defense was solid. Between Jr. and Sr. seasons, Marquise focused on building strength, rebounding, and putting his head down to drive to the basket. The result was 2017 A10 1st Team snub, but earned Most Improved Player and a 2nd Team nod. Billups can do that, too.

There are a lot of schools that would gladly take him. He may struggle offensively however he is a top level on ball defender who has started 79 games over 3 years.
