Mason 52

UMASS 60
Dayton 64
URI 77
vcu 78
SBU 79
SLU 90
GW 95
Fordham 107
Duquesne 146

And we still have 2 games remaining against top 30 RPI teams in GW(28) and SLU(15) so we may end up with a top 50 RPI SOS.

No real point, just found it interesting.

This is no defense of how we've played in many games this year, but we have played one helluva tough schedule. I can't remember a Mason team playing this many good teams night in and night out. The team knew this going into the season, but didn't appreciate what it takes to play at this level. It seems like they are finally coming to that realization.

If nothing else, they aren't likely to be rattled by how good the opponent is supposed to be, from here on out.

Last time I checked it was the toughest schedule we had played since as far back as kenpom's database currently goes.

Of course, we're losing all of the games, but I guess we aren't losing to UNCW.

I know a lot of this depends on who the coach is next year, but am curious what the schedule will look like:

Home vs American gets replaced with a home game vs ?? (guarantee game)
Away vs Lamar gets replaced with ??
Home vs N Iowa gets replaced with away vs N Iowa
Home vs St Francis gets replaced with a home game vs ?? (guarantee game)
Away vs Iona gets replaced with a home game vs Iona
Away vs Princeton gets replaced with a home game vs Princeton
Home vs URI gets replaced with ??
Home vs USF gets replaced with ??
BBT vs Oklahoma gets replaced with a away vs Oklahoma
Diamond Head Classic gets replaced with Puerto Rico Tip Off
Home vs Penn gets replaced with a road game at Penn (Palestra!!)
Away vs ODU gets replaced with home vs ODU

With road trips to N Iowa, Oklahoma and Penn along with home games vs Iona, Princeton and ODU, that leaves five open spots.

All kidding aside about our home court disadvantage, I'd pay 5 teams to come to Fairfax for guarantee games without a return. Even with the A10's scheduling rules on RPI and SOS, I'm sure this can be done.

Is it true that the UPenn game is a home and home and not a guarantee? I thought it was a guarantee. If it truly means we return the game at the Palestra, that is pretty awesome

In all seriousness, with our home court disadvantage, why would we have to pay someone to come here? You would think smart coaches that have noticed the pattern would want to come to the Patriot Center now. They get the credit for a road win and our SOS might not be horrible given A10 scheduling rules.

Have you factored in that the A10 schedule increases to 18 games next season?
good point. so we are really down to three open spots (assuming we will return the game with Penn. If we are doing a home-and-home with Princeton, why wouldn't we with Penn? Same conference, same geographic region, same quality of opponent)
