Mason Assistant Coach Eric Skeeters has been mentioned as a finalist for the Head Coach position at his alma mater, Coppin State. Five finalists were mentioned, but Maryland’s Bino Ransom has pulled out of the running. Coppin State announced the finalists for the job last week and interviewed all five. Craig Robinson got fired at Oregon State. No way in hell it would happen but it would be cool if we replaced Skeeters with him and had the Obama's as regulars at our games... only for a recruiting standpoint that is... being able to play in front of the 1st family multiple times a year.

Although it would absolutely suck getting into the Patriot Center with extra Presidential bullshit security. Patriot center policies were already bad enough this recent year.

I have no idea if Skeeters is a good coach or not, but it sure is nice to have his AAU ties. Every little bit helps when it comes to recruiting.

... Especially if we still had a scholarship open that we could offer to Nick Faust (who transferred from Maryland to Oregon State last week and presumably wants out, since he cited Robinson as the main factor in his commitment)

I'm with Tom. If he does leave, we need a guy with local AAU ties.
I know everyone is clamoring for an Xs and Os guy, but lets be honest, Hewitt isn't going to change because of an assistant coach. So the next priority is somebody who is in with the DC/Baltimore AAU scene.

I just want someone to bust some balls in practice and get them ready to compete.

I really think having four recruiting specialists on staff is a bit overkill.

I think people far overestimate the importance of having an "in" on the local AAU scene.

The key is to just keep talking to them for years, and when they get their Georgetown and Maryland dreams shattered, pounce.

'RE Campbell, Thomas, etc.

Dont care if Skitters leaves, but did appreciate his occasional fire.

Skeeters must be pissed. He knows we will win less than 10 games this year and couldnt get out before the ax falls on hewitt.

Found him. Stillman College head coach. Here's what it says about him on the Stillman Wiki: "A year after taking over a 1-27 team, head coach Michael Grant led the men's basketball team to the school's first ever appearance in the National Top 25 rankings."

It's DII, but that's not bad.
