For the last few seasons, I have been purchasing the GMU 10 Voucher pack as my main source of tickets. This gives me seats in Section 104, on the far edge of the Visitor's bench, which is usually the least crowded section in the lower bowl. Last season I had 10 games for $100 via the 10 Voucher Pack then purchased 3 other not so good games for $26 via ticket resellers. This gave me 13 games for $126, an average of under $10/game.
I had planned on doing the same for this season until 1) The OOC schedule came out, then 2) the 10-voucher pack price went to $185. Given those 2 factors I couldn't afford that on my small company pension and Social Security, nor could I justify paying for a bunch of Quad 3 and 4 teams as well as the Non-D1 games. So, I went scavenger mode.
Someone in the Ticket Office missed the Econ lecture on Non-linear pricing effects. The Ticket Office sells the home games at $10 for General Admission, and $15 for the high value games, when no GA tickets are offered. This is less than the $18.50/game effective price when buying the 10-voucher price. With the exception of the value ball ticket option all other pricing options are higher than $18.50/game. The resale tickets come marked with the ticket option used to purchase the tix and almost all were from Season Ticket Holders - who effectively sold their tickets at a financial loss. I ran out of time for 2 of the games and just purchased seats the day of the game at the Box Office, otherwise my average price would have been even lower.
Prices include all fees, so the $10 Ticketmaster Penn ticket was $5 plus a $5 Ticketmaster fee.
I saw 7 of the home OCC games paying an average price of $8.54/game, sitting in Sections 104, 113, 119, and 128
Luckily the A-10 schedule consists of Tier 1 and 2 teams, so I expect the average price to rise - closer to the Box Office Pricing Floor. I have purchased the Tier 1 games that I know I can attend from the Box Office to ensure that I have an aisle seat.
And I do want to applaud the Box Office for having $10 and $15 seats which make the games affordable for families and us poor folks
